R50/53 Short vs Long block?
Short block usually means the bottom end of the engine, meaning block, pistons, crank rods.
Long block usually refers to all the above and the cylinder head with valvetrain.

Hmmm... I may have heard that before but just thought it was like small/big block. Then when I hear people mentioning that about MINIs I thought "but we've all got 1.6s!" then I wondered if it was the stroke because I've heard people mention "stroker" engines. Anyway, good to know!
