First off, let me introduce myself...I'm with Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, and we've been a part of the new MINI phenomenon since day one. Recently, Yokohama asked us to campaign their MINI S on their soft compound AO32R tire, just wanted to give you all a headsup that the upcoming Dec. issue will have information about that effort. Here's a pic of me with the Yoko-Mini, this is somewhere south of Topeka, it was a riot driving in this car with kids in the back of minivans pointing and all kinds of people moving in for a closer look on the road.

Also, we're looking to expand our club events section in the back of the magazine, part of which is me hanging out on web-boards looking for cool stuff. if you've got information about an upcoming event please shoot me a line at GRMScottL@aol.com, be aware we need a month or two advance notice (events calendars for Nov. and Dec. are now going to press, the next issue will have Dec. and Jan. events). Check our website for more info about upcoming stuff, we've got two MINI project cars for those who don't know us (a base MINI and our race-prepped Cooper S)

I wish I had pictures of our red base-model MINI project car on the banked oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway, there was something highly amusing about doing a buck fifteen on a NASCAR oval in a base mini!

Welcome Scott. I've been a GRM subscriber since 92. A truly independant publication like GRM is a rare jewel these days. I look forward to the Mini features.

Hello to all who already subscribe!

And if I told you all the stuff on the Yoko MCS, what incentive would there be for you to check out the magazine? We've got all the details about the preparations we made (with very little headsup) for Nationals in the upcoming Dec. issue, and ask anyone who already reads GRM about our MINI project cars. Check out our website, Grassroots Motorsports.com, and give us a call or fill out the online thing for a free sample (or just dive right in and subscribe). In the meantime, I'll see if i can get Per to hunt down some of the pictures of the Yoko-MINI on course at nationals to put up on our website.

And thanks to those of you who have already emailed me info about your upcoming meets and such!

Scott

Scott, welcome aboard. If you you (or Tim or Rennie, or any of the rowdies) need any help with MINI diagnostics or engine management questions, let me know.

Welcome to our world....

I must say that it is EXTREMELY Cool to have a magazine looking at our board.

If it comes to MINI stuff, we are your sounding board.
And I'm sure your subscription rate will go up.

It's interesting that Yokohama is taking an interest in Solo II again. Back in the early 90's the 008 was the tire to have and they were the title sponsor at the Nationals and for the National Tour. Then BFG came along and they faded away.

You are indeed seeing the stock heavy wheels, but only because we needed to drive the car back from Topeka to GRM headquarters in Florida, and while doing so on the A032R-S would have been fun, it wasn't as practical as using the stock runflats from the car.

I'm actually running the A032R S compounds that were on the MINI for nationals on my personal car for weekend autocrosses, and I'd say there's definitely another player in the AutoX tire market at least, and I know some road racers who have been very happy with the new S compound.

As for more pics, ask and ye shall recieve...check out the new "GRM Gallery" link on the frontpage of GrassrootsMotorsports.com for some of the pics Per took of the car...as for specifics, well, you'll just have to check out the issue!
