Backup sensors and a tow hook

I put the tow hook that came with the car in the rear spot and now my backup sensors beep every time I go in reverse (only on the hook side). Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to fix it, without moving to the front? Perl is an 05 just a cooper.

I am running my tow hooks, both front and rear ones, with no such results. In an 06 MCSc. No problems with it at all. I don't know why yours would see it if its aligned properly.

I sometimes mount a CB antenna on a rear tow hook - the hook by itself won't trigger the sensors, but the antenna mount does... Haven't come up with a good solution yet... unplugging the offending sensor just makes it alarm all the time. Next step for me would be to play with the DVOM and see what voltage/resistance the car likes to see from the sensor, and wire up a "sensor eliminator"...

How is the Tow hook indexed? Horizontally or vertically? Mine are Horizontal.

Vertically. Maybe I'll change that.

I have the same issue when the draw bar is mounted in my hitch receiver. I wish the MINI backup sensors had a mute/disable switch, like the ones in my truck have. When backing with a trailer behind my truck, when the system starts beeping, I press a button on the dashboard & it's muted. The mute resets when I shift out of reverse again.
