Streaks on inside of windows

Hi all, I have had a problem with dirt / streaks on the inside of both driver and passenger windows which over the past few months got so bad that I finally decided to tackle the problem. Unfortunately trying to clean the rubber strips with the window down just would not work and also made me wonder if something was touching the window in the door, so I figured it was time to take everything apart. Well, nothing was touching the windows inside the doors - the problem is definately dirt and "winter grime" collecting on the rubber stripping. After removing the door panels I pulled off the inside rubber strip, washed it with warm water and let it dry completely. With the inside strip off, the window is loose enough that the outside strip can be cleaned with a damp cloth around your finger. After letting everything dry, I put everything back together and now have spotless windows! This is the only thing that worked for me, hope this is a help for anybody out there with the same problem.

You rule!!! The front 1/3 of my window is so bad you can scrape it off with a fingernail. how it got on the inside of the window is anyones guess. Just gotta figure out how to get the door panel off.

Many thanks. Peter

Peter, removing the door panel is really easy, do a search here on NAM and you will find some great threads with pictures. Once you have the panel off, the inside rubber strip is only held on by two plastic pegs on the front and three on the back. Carefully pull them straight out and then lift off the strip. Good luck!

Could be worse, sand from winter driving gets in between my drivers window and the weatherstrip and scrapes the outside drivers glass. I now have several scratches in the glass, lovely! I will probably have to replace the drivers side window every couple of years because of it.
