ChipG,
You certainly lucked out getting a lot of mods that you may find to be desirable. However, the Dealer misrepresented what they sold to you and you should demand a financial concession, as heavily (even mildly) modded MINIs are substantially discounted because of the questionable integrity of the systems after such installations occur, especially since the pedigree of the tuner(s) is unknown.

Might be worth a few sheckels to you to make a fuss.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I knew the exhaust and CAI weren't stock when I first looked at it even if the salesman did or didn't. When he gave me the price I was sold. Every thing seems to be solidly installed(no evidence of half *** installs) and I couldn't build the car for what I paid for it so I'm happy. I have however wondered if I had a warranty claim if they would deny it because it's modded. Would have to make a stink then.

Depends on what the warranty claim is, and whether there are mods that could directly affect the failed component... and the disposition of your local MINI dealership toward warranty work...

It's a 2004, so I don't think warranty coverage is an issue, unless there's an extended warranty in play.

Some details...

Things that don't make a huge difference, but cost a lot for what it is. You have white/clear side light covers instead of the yellow they usually are and you have upgraded OEM gas/brake/clutch/dead peddles. Very nice find, I will gladly swap any parts you wish to upgrade your self for the stock equivalent lol.

actually the side marker lens and the pedals are standard on S models. Other nice factory items you have are the interior pieces and your headlights.

you seem to have Anthracite interior, which is probably the most desirable interior color. (the trim rings around your gauges and vents, cupholders, and downtubes)
you also have HID headlamps, which are always nice, and an expensive factory option.

I had just put HID's on my bike and was excited as hell that I didn't have to buy another set for the car. Now I just wish my wife would be as stoked about the car as me. "Hey honey, we have a 15% smaller pulley on the supercharger!!!" "We have a Magnaflow exhaust!" All I get is rolling eyes and an unenthused "Great"

My wife asked me the other day"when are you going to have the Mini divo'd"

Jan, do you do divo packages too? Maybe we can do one with the dyno Friday?

I didn't take time to read all of the reply's but it does like like your car is a little lowered. However, I'm thinking that's because those are NOT the stock 16" rims that came with the 1st gen MCS. If I recall correctly, those are stock 15"? That may 'lower' your car a little

They are the factory 16" sport wheels. I've seen them on a few 1st gen cars around here, but I don't know if they originally came on my car.

The wheels almost look out-of-place on your car because they most likely *are* the factory wheels. Considering all of the other mods the previous owner made, I'm willing to bet he also had a nice set of aftermarket wheels that he took off before selling it.

I've been wondering what wheels might have been on there. I think a set of Rota RB's are in my future

Those wheels didn't come on the Cooper S.

Huh, there's another Cooper S in my town with the same wheels so I thought that those were the 16" wheels S's got. What are the odds of two S's in the same town with the same wrong wheels

That's weird because I ordered my '05 MCS new and the stock option was a set of 16" V-Spoke R84's that you can see in my gallery and my sig. I don't remember if the 5-star were an option but I just remember them being one of the stock options for the regular Cooper.

How does having 15" rims lower your car compared to 16" rims? The outside radius does not change unless you got the wrong tire ratio size. Furthermore, having different radii would also screw up the speedometer. 0.o

If you meant visually, then ignore my above statement. :P

Same 5 star wheels the girlly has on her 02 non-S. ChipG your MINI appears almost stock hieght to me.. Could be just the painted wheel trim that gives it a lowered affect.. Great mods done to your machine, looks professional too.. WOW I must say that was a GREAT find you have there.. Wow Happy Motoring! And the Rota RBs are great looking wheels if i say so myself. Good luck with your wifey, dont sell that machine unless its to me! HAHA

Thanks, man. I like the RB's for the classic look, and they remind me of the Empi 8 spokes that were on my old Ghia
