Well here I sit and debate, how can I afford an MCS and still go back to school. So I'm selling a kidney... No actually, cashing in on some stocks (america west, bought is on 09/20/01!) so my payments will be low (+ trade-in)

Anywhoo, jimble jamble aside... Can anyone give me info on what a good rate to insure a MCS is in Michigan? I was quoted the following. 25 years old (living @ home). No tickets/accidents/claims. Good credit. $500 deductible. All with uninsured motorist, rental car coverage...
in with parents insurance policy- $1,920/yr. (looks like the way to go!)
GEICO- $2810/yr.
AAA- $2754/yr
State Farm- $3,260/yr

Are these values normal??? They seem quite high???
Also, just out of curiosity, I might be reloacing to Arizona for grad-school (Thunderbird), in a few years- I assume car insurance is less there than MI...

cheers & thx in advance,

-Matt

Matt,

I am a customer with State Farm and have been for years. I am 29 years old with no tickets, accidents or anything else negative. I also live in Michigan.

I got a quote from my insurance guy for $660 every 6 months for my MCS. That is with a multi-car discount as I also have an '03 Escape. My vehicle is also listed as a "recreational use" vehicle. My insurance on my Escape will only be $500 for 6 months.

Your quotes seem very high to me, but that might be because I have been with my agent since I was 16...

When I requested a quote from Geico, the told me I would be paying well over $3000 a year for both cars. I never tried AAA.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the info-

I spoke with David at MCM (by the way, the new dealership on M59/Dequindre is MUCH nicer than the old), and he said no official confirmation on the three-spoke steering wheel- so I await that. Week 49 builds, I hear. The rear-fogs come in week 50.

Big reason I'm waiting, tho, is my vette lease runs out in January. So i'm tryin
to avoid having three cars. I'm figuring about ordering in Nov? That would time
it right? I think a Jan build would work out ok. I'm still kicking myself about the leather seats, DSC and 17" wheels. Premium and HK, tho, are in the bag regardless.

Ryan- Did you get Mr. Motor's replacement? I saw the crash, didn't look too bad- until you look at the airbags and the motor mount :- Orders right now, cash deposit with David, are week 49 builds, roughly. November orders will be, most likely, late Dec 03/Jan 04 builds.

FYI- One reason our insurance is so high is because of "No fault", so even if your just sitting at a light and BAM you get hit by an H2, you're still at some fault for being there. Our insurance in Ohio was 1/2 the rate of MI, my friend in Indiana (South Bend- 26) pays $2,300/yr to insure a new Subie STI!

cheers,

-Matt

I'm insuring my '04 MCS with Progressive (I live in the metro Detroit area) and it's quite reasonable, only about $80 more per 6-months than my wife's '97 Civic. The MCS is insured as a daily driver. Your quote seems high......
