R50/53 Best way to drive CVT
I guess I need to make my question more clear
I meant the best way to shift between gears. Do I need to release the gas when I shift? Is there a clear instruction of How to?
Thank you.

To the floor and above 5 grand.
You have two options
1. let the car shift out which is fine
or
2. just above the over drive position on the throttle. This allows you a little more control over the transmission. Then shift when you want always above 5 grand.
Downshifting-Over anticipate the down shift by pulling back.
The key is even when downshifting and grabbing gears is to keep it above 5 grand.
Have Fun.

This is an EXCELLENT discussion thread over at MINI2.COM "CVT Driving technique". The thread itself is pretty long but an absolute read for any prospective or current MINI Cooper CVT owner:
