R50/53 Replacing the passenger window
Replacing the passenger window
Someone broke into my 2005 MCS. They busted the passenger side window. There is glass everywhere in the cabin. What's the best way to replace this window and to clean the bits of glass? I heard that there are shops who will send people to you to replace the window. Also, how much can I expect to pay for a window?
I'm in San Diego, CA.

Look for a mobile glass installer - they're everywhere. Safelite is a common one and they're nationwide. Cost-wise, I don't know what it will be (I've only had a windshield done), but I would expect $300-400 is not out of line.
As far as cleaning the glass, it's tempered, so I'd just get out the vacuum and get on it!

Same thing happened to my son's vehicle. Insurance paid for the replacement. The glass replacemet company vacuumed up the broken glass as part of the installation. FWIW.

That's why I don't leave any valuables in the car (Shopping bags, wallets, phones, iPods, etc). Thieves look for cradles, suction cup imprints on the inside windshield, etc as indicative that you may have a gizmo/money still inside the car.
That golden rule has spared me from break ins where I live.
