Got pulled over again

Well its about 1:20am and i was pulling into my driveway half in half out and i see sirens next to me. Cops get out giving me a hard time. I lost traction on the turn and the tires spun out the cop claims i was going 80mph up the street thus the reason of the noise.....

He was arguing with me of how i did not lose traction but because of the speed i was going. Its not possible to go 80 miles on a turn and 80 miles up 1 block in my mini it barely does 45 in a block..

Sometimes cops can be very power abusive, he told me he had a mini and he knows how they are. Fortunately he was nice enough to not give me a ticket but thats because he had no charges on me ....

Its 8 degrees F outside and roads are icey! he was just busting my chops

So why are you complaining if you didn't get a ticket? Did you ever think that he let you off because he was a fellow Mini driver and not because he didn't have any "charges" on you.

Sounds like he gave you a break...I hoped you thanked him for that.

No im not complaining just sharing my story...

Sounds like he gave you a break...I hoped you thanked him for that.
Thank him for what harasing me?
he didn't let me off because he was a fellow mini owner for the purpose that he told me he had one of these and he hated it so much which was why he didn't have it anymore, then he tells me he was not always a cop so he knows...

and once again just sharing my story not complaining that is what we do here on these forums..

OK, maybe it's just me but...I fail to see how if a cop pulls you over that automatically means that he is harassing you. He must have had some reason to pull you over and I highly doubt it was because he wanted to harass you.

Well there are cops that abuse the badge and can be a pain in the rear, but I think he maybe genuinely cares and that is why you got pulled over. He let you off the hook with just a warning, so be thankful that the little encounter didn't cost you any more money and aggravation.

Be careful next time and try not to attract the attention of bored cops working graveyard shifts.

Uhh dude, seriously, how would you have felt? It's easy for you to come hear and blast him because he is complaining, and how do you know this cop was really a "MINI owner?" Cops can be shady too, have you ever thought of that?

If the OP had come in here and stated that he had been pulled over 10 times in a month, and in every one of these times he says he was harrassed, then maybe I could see your point. However, he simply stated that he was pulled over after doing nothing wrong. That could be seen as harassment. What perfect world do you live on? I'd like to move there.

If a cop pulled you over he had a reason, if he let you go he isn't harassing you. Harassing you would be checking front lights city sticker license plate, checking for open alcohol, if your wearing your seatbelt. Also if your tires are slipping on a turn in the middle of the night he may have thought you were intoxicated.

P.S. criminals and shady people don't seem to have regard for the cops "feelings"

One has to ask the question, if someone was parked in the left lane at 20 under the limit, why didn't you move right & just pass him? Did you think that tailgating him was going to show him the error of his ways? At 2am I'd guess the right lane was clear. I don't often pass on the right, but there are times one has to do it.

Tailgating was not a very good idea & the officer thought so. In his eyes you may have seemed like an aggressive driver or one under the influence. I'm sure he has been to his share of wrecks caused by people tailgating & aggressive driving. I'm not saying you were behaving that way, just that could be what the officer thought of your actions. I agree with you & think the officer did make a mistake. IMO the left lane bandit deserved the ticket & you deserved a talking to.

Motor on

In today's world of cities and police depts. looking for every possible source of revenue (tickets), if an officer stopped me and let me go with no ticket, I would be greatful.

Isn't this the third time Dimi has been pulled over this month? I seem to remember his posting about a ticket he got doing 93 in a 45 that the cop wrote down to 80........and he said that was his second ticket that week. And why is it he's always getting pulled over at 2 in the morning? Do you work the night shift or are you just out partying? I'm betting on the latter...........

I think Mr. Dimi needs to slow the hell down, and this last cop did him a favor.....

Slow down Mr. Dimi, the life you save may be mine!

As for dustinhxc, I agree with the poster who suggested you just pass the left lane dawdler, there's no point in trying to push him along, if anything you'll just **** them off or make them nervous.

Folks, just drive your own car properly and don't worry about what the other guy's doing.......driving is a co-operative adventure, sometimes you can help your fellow motorist best by simply giving them room and carrying on......

The OP did also say that he did lose traction in a corner...... That can easily be construed as "driving too fast for conditions". From a police/safety/traffic officers perspective, a motorist must always maintain control over his vehichle..... The officer did his job exactly how he should....ESPECIALLY given the time of night. ANY violation is an oppertunity to check a driver for warrants and asses the sobriety of the driver....The officer did a stop, and finding no real cause of concern simply warned the driver to slow down.

Yes he did. But people make simple mistakes driving all the time. Cops are no exception. It's been in the news recently, cops plowing into peoples homes etc. At 1 a.m. the cop was bored. It's no different than the story I posted not too long ago in another thread concerning my father getting pulled over at 3 in the morning. The fact Planeguy is this, lots of cops abuse there power. This sounds like a clear case to me. You can go on ahead and be an advocate for this, but when something much worse happens to you or someone close to you, look this thread back up and read it.

No im sorry before you begin to bash on me go read correctly this is my second time getting pulled over... And the cop got me going 80 didnt reduce it... Second i did nothing wrong except slip on ice with my car

Funny part after the cop told me it was impossible to lose traction is wen he got back into his car i spun out crazy for losing traction in ice again why didn't he pull me over again? Maybe because he saw that you can lose traction.

Yeah, I have sympathy for you on this Dimi.

I got pulled over TN a while back because my MINI was registered as a "BMW" . The really funny part was that we were coming back from the MINI dealership in Nashville. It was definitely a WTF moment.

I'm more inclined to agree that he didn't have anything on you. I have a lot of friends locally that are cops and I hear all these stories about cops in other counties pulling people over just to see if they could get them for anything (i.e., drugs, alcohol, etc.). I've even heard some cops pulling people over just because they got bored.

Here's a future tip though (in case you didn't already know): If an officer pulls you over, he will immediately ask you "Do you know why I pulled you over?" ALWAYS (no matter what!) answer "No." If you ever have to fight it in court and you answered with anything other than pure ignorance, it's considered a confession of guilt.

Whats funny is I hate tailgaters and I always drive in the right lane but I wanted the driver to realize he was making a mistake and get in the right lane, too bad that didnt work and I was the one with the ticket! Talk about messed up.

I understand your intentions, but I have to tell you that in my many years of driving that is a strategy that has never worked for me. I'll wait a bit, but then I just pass them. I won't tailgate them because I don't want to be brake checked.

Odds are at 2am what you saw was a drunk driver trying to drive real good so he doesn't get pulled over. Man I hates drunk drivers.

Wow, you get no ticket, you're breaking your tires loose in a residential zone, you feel entitled to "send a message" by tailgating. Count your blessings or either get some track time or a better idea of where to get your motoring kicks

Geez DIMI...your just not lucky with police officers eh? Consider getting some snow tires, better traction in snow and ice. Less Chirp. I had a set of summer tires that was balding. I always made small chirps when starting from a green light or making turns, but the chirp is less noticeable through throttle control. I got pulled over for it once and the police officer thought I was trying to floor my car. I explained to him in a professional, calm tone and manner that my tires are scheduled to be replaced. And it's due to a low level of traction. He in return told me he understood the situation but it's his duty to make sure I have full control over my car as to not endanger others. Signs such as chirping your wheels are things officers look out for. If the officer let you go with just a verbal warning. That is not harrassment.

When I was in high school, we were car pooling to my friends house which happens to be in the run down, more racy part of the city. It was 3 asians and 1 african american. I was a passenger, we were pulled over for "looking suspicious," there was recent gang banging and robbery in the neighborhood. They asked us to step out of the car and went through our back packs and the trunk. (Back than I didn't know I can refuse the search) Asked us for identification papers. Asked us for school IDs. Searched us for weapons and illegal drugs. Asked us where we were going, where we were coming from, where we live. We didn't possess anything that they suspected us to have and without a word, hopped into their cruiser and left without another word. That was one of my more frightening experiences with officers in my teenage years. They were practically screaming at us, pushing us next to the car. I considered that harrassment.

BTW you have 4 threads on the same page concerning police officers/being pulled over. 1 is enough.

+1 on the snow tires. I have winter tires on my stock rims and summer tires on my nice ones. This might be something to look into doing.

I've only been pulled over once for supposed loud exhaust but didn't get a ticket. All in all the cops leave you alone as long as you dont do something dumb. Do you dive with your asc off otherwise your tires shouldn't be spinning to much.
