R50/53 MINI demographics?
Ordering a MCS 2004 in October, so can I still count? (waiting so I can get the three spoke wheel/factory rear-fogs- call me persnickity- also hoping to avoid the stumble. Test drove one with the stumble, it's annoying and somewhat unsafe- but wonderful car otherwise

Thank You ! Not to give her any ideas!

>>Hey! What's 'a matter with Julianne Moore? She's sexy, smart, and nice. A very rare combo in Tinsel Town.
she's a very talented actress too. But why is she doing those hair color commercials?!? I mean, she's been nominated for academy awards and then she goes the "I'm a hair model" route. Weird.
Oops. Sorry for the hijack.

Me: 31, married, male, no kids, lower-class
My wife picked the MINI and drives it to work. The liquid yellow MCS w/ white roof and wheels suits her personality perfectly - cute. I take care of it (wash, oil changes and EXCERCISE on the mountain roads). I have some modding experience. I find mechanical work a pleasant escape from daily stress. We have little interest in modding our MINI so I get my mechanical "fix" modding and riding my sportbike.

This is kinda fun so:
Her: 22, married (to me), graduate student (hopefully med-student soon), previous cars (in order):
89(ish) Festiva
88 Cabriolet
00 VW 1.8T Beetle GLX
03 MCS
Him: 35, married (to her), 5 y/o girl from previous marriage, BA in English, work as a technical writer (publishing repair manuals), previous cars (in order):
79 Olds (high school car)

00 Jeep Grand Cherokee
98 Jeep Cherokee
Far too many motorcycles to list here, though currently without a bike (but shopping)
A couple of boats, current is a little 16' outboard/ski boat
Some experience with mods, LOTS of experience turning wrenches. Put myself through college as an automotive tech and now have spent nearly 15 years in technical publishing.
We're otherwise a neurotic couple that must ALWAYS be doing something or we go crazy: renovating the house, water skiing, snow skiing, scuba-diving, motorcycling and MOST of all Shotokan Karate.

>>Goodness, where did you get those salary figures? 50k is no way upper-middle class in California where the average house costs 450k - I know, I used to earn that! Anything under 18k a year is considered poverty, so I seriously doubt that 50k is upper-middle class.
>>
>>I thought that middle-class means you're above poverty, probably paying a mortgage, upper-middle means you own your own house, possibly your own business, and have at least some income from investments. At least that's what they (the economists) were saying a couple decades ago during Nixon's recession and energy crisis. Have we lowered our sights that much since then? It would be pretty hysterical if I was upper-middle class and didn't even know it!

The only reason I have time to participate on-line is that I'm 56, doctorate in education and RETIRED after 30 years as an educator, 26 years as a camp director (on the Main Line of Philadelphia) and 5 years as a family therapist. I'm getting married in November to a Ph.D. psychologist who I have been with for 23 years and with whom I have raised or helped to raise four kids who are finally on their own. Now I can visit my 11 month old grandaughter in San Francisco and drive my Mini ANY TIME I feel like it.......what fun!
Saw my first Mini at the BMW factory in Munich in the summer of 2001 and it was love at first sight.
I also loved my 1968 VW Beetle that I even drove to Woodstock during the years when I 'turned on, tuned in and dropped out'. It had a large orange and white daisy on the driver's door and a peace sign on the rear bumper. Drove it coast to coast.
My favorite mod is a Nittany Lion decal on the hatch. Blue and white looks great against the dark silver. Also have a cold air intake, racing ignition, short shifter, bonnet stripes and Mini luggage to boot.
My MCS makes me feel (and maybe look) younger than my years. Let's motor!

Beagle, female, nonsmoker, looking for a meaningful relationship. Like long walks in the park, rides in my owner's Mini, chasing rabbits and squirrels, and getting into neighbor's trash. No heavies please.
