The only description of the OBD port I have is "to the left below the steering wheel." I put in the european parcel shelf some time ago, and don't recall seeing anything like this when I installed the shelf.

Looking under the dash now, I don't see it. Is the shelf covering the OPD? Could someone who has had a need to access this port tell me if it is just hidden by the parcel shelf? Would removing it reveal this port?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if your parcel shelf is covering it. But, the port is adjacent to the fuse panel. Above it on the "underside" of the dash there is a small door labeled "OBD". Open the door, and there's the port.

Hey nuvolari,
What are you using to access the OBD information?
I use the ELM232 hardware from scantool.net and it works great.

Or are you doing a SharkInjector computer update?

I have a Cooper. I just ran out of patience waiting for the Shark. It still looks like some months out (if ever) before this will be offered for us non-S redheaded stepchildren. I decided to go with the Powerchip software. Now I have to wait for the availability of a cable from them and I will install their upgrade. Just trying to find out as much information up front before the cable arrives.

As mrbean described it, the OBD port is under the dash and above the fusebox. First picture is of the door, second is with the door popped open.
