R50/53 Goodbye Dunlop Runflats, hello Eagle F1 all-season
Goodbye Dunlop Runflats, hello Eagle F1 all-season
Just got back from having the runflats replaced with the F1s. What a difference.
The road is wet right after a little shower and they stick like glue compared to the OEM tires. Ride is nice and firm without the harshness.
I stayed with the 205/45-17 size after some consideration for the 215s.
The big difference is the noise level--the F1s are quiet in comparison to the OEM tires. No helicopter noise at mid speed levels and the interior noise level must have dropped 20 dB.
BTW, the runflats were in acceptable condition, it is just that in this area I am likely to encounter snow and the all-season traction will be welcome. I don't plan on driving in the snow since I have my pickup and my wif'e car, but getting stuck is not in my plan if there is a sudden snowfall
I bought them at Jack Williams tire and with the rebate I paid 650 (OTD with 6% tax).
I had a Continental T 125/75 R15/95M donut in the garage from some past vehicle and the guys at the shop told me it fits the car perectly, so if someone is looking for a spare, you may want to check with local junkyards to see if you can find one. If I remember what car it came from I'll post it later.

I hate to rain on your happy parade, I also put GY F1 AS on my 06 MCS when the RFs wore out. I agree with the handling and wet and all that stuff, I love that part, but at half worn out, they are now louder than the RFs. Almost so loud I'm ready to change them. Way too loud.
