Which to buy?

Well I just bought a new Fidanza Flywheel for my new Getrag 6-speed and I'm looking for a good clutch kit. It has been recommended to me not to buy the stock clutch kit for the Cooper S transmission. Any opinions otherwise? And if so, can anybody recommend a good clutch kit to buy to put with my new Fidanza Flywheel? ANY input is much appreciated! Thank you fellow NAMers!

You are asking for opinions, so I will give you mine. If you are building a big HP car there will always be a weak point no matter what you do. I would rather have it be the clutch then the entire tranny. I guess it all depends on how much money you have to spend. If you plan use it as a Daily Driver or an all out race car. This is my opinion, do with it what you will. When I buy another 2005 I will keep the stock clutch no matter how much HP I put under the hood!

Well actually its not a huge HP car. I just want a better tranny and while its open I want to put components that won't break because I can't afford to do this again in a year. By the way I live in Las Cruces, NM

You live in Las Cruces, how often do you make it down for the NM MINI Club events! I am about to become more active on that site. In reference to not building a HUGE HP car. I am sorry I noticed that it was a Non-S after I reread your post. I apologize about that. However, I still stand behind what I said. No matter what I would rather the weak link be my clutch. It sounds like you are doing the work yourself, and the last I checked a stock Clutch was under $500.00. That is much less then a new Tranny. Either way I think you are on the right track in putting a Stock S Clutch in it! Let me know if I can help, perhaps I can help get parts ordered or something.

Thanks. I actually have a great shop doing the work for me. He can get me the stock clutch kit for $180 but I really am thinking about putting in a clutchmasters kit. For only $200 more I know that it will last ya know. Tell me more about the club events. Are they all in Albq?
