When locking/unlocking my wife's 2006 Mini S with the remote the fog lights would come on for 30 -60 seconds and go off. Since several months it stopped doing it. And I can't find out why. I asked the dealer, he didn't know what I was talking about. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, why it stopped and how to turn it back on? My wife used them to find her way to the door throught the gargage and now can't. We know about the "follow me home" feature but this was better because it was automatic.

 

yes i now exactly what u are talking about just go out and show the Dealer on a diff car. your Bulbs could be burnt out and need to be replaced

 

No the fog lights are working fine, just not when I lock or unlock the car.

 

I didn't check the list, but believe that is a programmable feature and so the computer just "lost" part of the programming through a powersurge or even a static spark.

This kind of thing happens to programmable memory in computers quite frequently, just like if you remove a memory card from a computer without hitting the "safely remove hardware" in the tray and you get an "unrecognized" warning when you try to use it again.

 

That's what I thought too. I went to the dealer, they hooked it up and said that wasn't an option which they had in the software for my Mini. Don't know where it came from or why it disappeared but want it back. It's was really helpful to find the car in dark parking garages
