Flashing LED

I have a 2005 MCS

So I replaced the interior lights with LEDs. Well almost.

The LED in the boot strobes when the headlights are on. It behaves properly when the headlights are off. I took it out and replaced the old bulb till I can figure out the problem.

Also, How does the map light fixture come off. The one next to the rear view mirror. It has the Air Bag indicator in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

The lighting circuit sometimes carries a small amount of electricity even when the bulb is supposed to be off. It is not enough power to light a standard bulb, but LEDs require so little power that they may light up. You can remedy this by installing a resistor in parallel with the LED bulb. This provides an extra path for the electricity to leak through and prevents the LED from getting enough power to flicker. People have had success with a 1K ohm resistor.

For the map light, I believe you push the unit towards the front of the car and lever out at the rear edge.

I put on LED's in my car and I don't have that problem at all. Then again mine is a EURO spec car.
