R50/53 MCS 2006 -6 speed auto agitronic transmission
MCS 2006 -6 speed auto agitronic transmission
The bentley repair manual says that the agitronic transmission comes with lifetime fluid and that there is no scheduled fluid maintenance other than checking for leaks. is this true? isnt there any filter that needs to be replaced at some point in time?
Welcome to the club. I did notice that there's a way to drain and refill though. The drain plug actually has a tube inside other than the actual drain plug. I recall it's for refilling and determining the amount of tanny fluid needed. I have never had a slush box with no maintenance schedule as well. So you are not alone wondering.
Yea... they say "lifetime"... which, to MINI, I think means about 120K miles since that's the engineered life of some other parts, it appears... I plan for my car to last MUCH longer than that... my mechanic will do a tranny fluid replacement on mine at 60K or 75K miles. My understanding is that you have to use a big syringe to suck out, replace, suck out, replace a couple of times because there's some amount of fluid you can't "drain" ....
This is my third bmw product with the getrag trannys. Do a flush at 60k and a flush and filter at 95K. Not sure of the fluid type but On my 7 series you could hook up a BG flush machine to the tranny and swap out the fluid easy cheesy. Then top off as needed. Not a 100% flush but 85% is pretty darn good.
Question for any techs out there. What type of fluid do we need to run in this car?
