Remove side scuttles R53

All threads on this I could find were only for 2nd Gen MINI's.

Does anyone know how to completely remove Side Scuttle from the panel ? Seems likely to go through bonnet, but even with flashlight is difficult to see past washer buckets to get a good look at clasp(s) ect.

Thanks

Never mind figured it out.

Used the short end of allen wrench and pushed from inside the front pin holder and pushed it out . Worked great !

From inside the fender (you might want to use a glove), push out on the peg of the scuttle, while holding the scuttle with the other hand. This is in case it falls off to avoid scratching the fender. When the scuttle comes loose, slide it out. There is nothing that really unscrews or unbolts, it's just a "friction fit". (If you can't get your hand in there you can use the flat side of a screw driver or a piece of wood or something to push the peg on the back of the scuttle out.)

I tried that, but apparently it is a barrel fitting. The peg from the scuttle friction fits into the barrel. But the back of the barrel is open allowing me to insert the angle end of an allen wrench into it and push realy hard HARD, Guess this way it would keep one from scratching the paint by prying from outside too ...

Thanks for all help

That's a great idea! My roof is white as well (on Indi Blue), and I just ordered clear side markers. I wonder how that would look. Post pics when it's done
