I have had my car for a week and am getting 29 mpg. This accounts for city/hwy driving.

Seems like everybody gets a little bit different with there Mini's and the mileage. I know that my average is 29 mpg....but I can make it to San Diego on less than a quarter tank from Pasadena area in LA. If I put the cruise on i can get 37.5! Not too shabby for the few mods I've done to the Red Rocket so far. We'll see how everything else effects it once we're all done! lol

I have an '05 MCS JCW and during normal weekday driving I average about 30mpg. Most of that is on uncongested interstate, but getting to the interstate from work involves a couple miles of twisties that I drive spiritedly every day as long as noone is in front of me

I have an '03 MCS /51K, runflats filled to #35, K&N cone (stock box removed and heat shield added); using 92 octane gas.

My usual driving is 60% highway and 40 local. I generally hold at 72mph on the highway and I am fairly spirited in my local driving but i don't speed excessively.

I get an average of 29-30 and about 340 from a tank of gas.

Right now my computer is showing 311.5 on the trip odometer; 46 miles remaining; and 29.7mpg at an average speed of 39mph.

BTW, I have checked my computer each time I get a fill up and it is accurate.

'06 MC here. Pretty light, no sunroof, forged rims, 5 sp. Tank in, tank out, mix of open fwy @ 75mph and around town or stuck in the stop/go 405, 30 to 32 mpg. If I drive it like I stole it, 27. If I baby it or go 65 on the fwy for an entire trip, 35 or 36

I have a 2003 Cooper and I always get 350 miles per tank. Mostly small town driving. Very little highway.

I know most of us try to avoid it for other reasons, but I've read that mpg is worse with for fuel with 10% ethanol. That may come into play b/c in some areas everything is 10% ethanol.

After reading some of the replies here, I feel much better about the economy of my mini I'm averaging 30 MPG. City/highway. I got this calculation by:
I've use 1/4 tank so far and I've driven 100 miles. Tank holds 13.2 gallons. 13.2 divided by 4 is 3.3 aprox. 100/3.3 = 30.30 Just to give some leeway, The avg aprx should be between 28-32. This means I should get about 400 +/- miles per tank of gas. Not too shabby eh?

Btw, I have an '02 cooper. Everything stock. 5 speed/manual trans. I drive about 60-70 hwy and do about the speed limit for city. (+/- 5-10mph).

MPG for 03 MCS

I previously owned a 2002 Cooper and tracked my mileage between every fill-up. I did this by hand, not using the computer. I would routinely average around 31-32 mpg. Now I own an 03 MCS. I still track all of my mileage, but my overall average right now is 27.1 mpg (since March 09). This mileage generally reflects my daily commute (50 miles round trip, about 50% is highway). I often get around 320-340 miles per tank, but again that is because I baby it on my commute to save money. Otherwise, I'm only averaging around 24-25 mpg. My worst was 23.9 and my best was 31.1 mpg (all highway miles). I've never taken my car on a track.

I don't know if it makes that much difference, but I always fill-up with Shell gasoline (93 octane).

Well. I did nothing but highway when I drove down to Alabama a few weeks ago. I filled up, drove for a couple hundred miles, then filled up again. Calculated my MPG by hand. I was getting 38 MPG the entire trip.

How accurate is the mpg on the onboard computer? I've never calculated by hand, but the computer says 32.6 mpg pretty consistently for my 2006 MC

Accuracy varies. Mine overstates 1 mpg. Only way to tell is to calculate it manually at each fill-up.

With that type of gas mileage, you're either bouncing off the Redline or have a V8 under the hood.

I've been getting around 28 MPG in mixed town/highway driving in my '03 MCS, at least up until this last tank of gas. The computer seems to be consistently a little "optimistic" about the mileage, and is usually about 10-12% high compared to the calculated value.

So far on this most recent tank it is getting around 26 MPG on the computer, but the weather's a lot colder the past week or so (even saw 29 degrees over the weekend , which is *BLOODY COLD* for Phoenix!), so maybe it's taking longer to get to proper operating temperature and running rich longer as a result....

UPDATE: getting about 27 MPG (1 less than before) due to short trips back/forth to work (only 8 miles) and the freezin-cold weather (lows in the low 40s and upper 30s ) here lately. Luckily it's warmed back up a smidgen this week.

HTH!

C ya,
Dutch

When you got a nicely modded MINI and you drive it once every 2 months you tend to have some fun with the car!

Come to look at it, I haven't drove it since SEMA!

I usually average about 27 city and 35 hwy. This is normal driving and on the hwy it is 80mph. I drove it like a grandpa on one tank and got 33 city, but that was no fun. At least i know I can get good mpg if needed. With 55, 468 on the odometer, I think a spark plug change may help a little, not sure, I know the plugs are supposed to be good for 100k miles...but then again my toast always falls buttered side down so I won't count on the 100k.

On my '06 JCW car with some mods and an RMW tune..... I am getting almost 31mpg on the hwy at 75mph. For city driving when I actually touch the pedal, things are a little more spirited and I get in the low to mid 20s.

On the track, my fuel consumption is likely best measured in feet. It is really horrible, but that's expected. I think it is about 5 mpg.

For the hwy, I could use a 7th gear.

I average about 29mpg mixed with some spirited driving. I usually get around 310 miles per tank. Like a few others here, i really don't care about the mileage
