Like others here, I am a big R53 fan, but don't much care for the R56. If my car was to give me enough trouble to make me need to get rid of it, I'd search for a low mileage '06 ...and if I could not find one I'd start looking at other cars ...I'm sad to say.
I am of the same mindset.

I have test-driven a couple of, and had a couple of R56 loaners - both MCs and MCSs in both stick and auto, and I wasn't enthralled with any of them. Aside from them resembling my '05, they were 'just another car.'

If I was in the same situation, that is, wrestling with an 'upgrade' decision, I would either:

1. keep the R53/50, or
2. look to purchase a completely different car

That new Fiat 500(?) would be something I'd look at, just for the sake of looking at it. The R56 is not in my realm of possibility.

Two friends of mine have Priuses. They ride like trucks.

They might ride like trucks, but at least they are ugly.

When I was in high school I played football. Our coach used to tell us "you guys might be small, but at least you are slow.

That recollection made me think of the Prius.

Funny, I was looking at the Fiat 500 but it is insanely small inside and a bit of a chicks car. Not the cheapest things over here either.

I should just calm down and keep this thing, I mean even if it drops a 1000 pound repair on me when its out of warrantee its still cheaper than the loss I will take trying to get into another car. The sick thing is that I lost a bundle on a 20k mile Rav4 that I traded in for it and that car never gave me a single problem, well it did shift like the shifter was metal rod in a bucket of rocks but thats how they all are I am told.

Maybe I am too picky, I should get a honda....Peter

A few years ago, I drove my friend's first gen rav4 and I loved the way it felt, overall. My '71 Corolla shifted great! I've always liked Toyota's manny-trannies.

I think the 1st gen was much better, this was so bad I just could not stand it, also as i wanted a mini for 8 years it just had to go. Even the Toyo service manager said they shift like that.

Peter, keep the car. Find a good reputable garage that can address your issues and you should be fine.
