I wanted to, but the stupid Midland gearbox is dying. So, now I have to trade it in for an R56.

mini in my life

i plan on keeping my mini cooper forever and ever. i was sixteen when i bought my first car and it was a mini cooper. i am now almost eighteen. i wanted one for as long as i can remember. it has brought many smiles to my face. the feeling i get when i drive it is unmatched from any other car that i have driven. i can remember back when i was in junior high, going around from table to table and asking my friends for their nickles that they had left over from buying their lunch. everyone knows me where i live by my car. i am the only one in my town to own and run a mini cooper. my baby is a black body, white roof, mirrors and wheels, a 2002 cooper, and i treat it very nice. i try to wash and wax it once a week. with the exception of in the winter. since i love mini coopers so much i will own this car for the rest of my life and if i get another car it will be another mini cooper. i also have plans to enter this car into car shows when it is an antique. just like the rest of the mini cooper fans, you know how much i love my car and everytime i get into it the love will always be there.

We plan on keeping our 2005 MCSa for as long as the auto tranny is healthy. In a year or two it'll become our third car and live in storage during our crappy Chicago winters.

Ive owned my 04 mcs for 1.5 years and still enjoy it as much today as i did the day i drove it home.
As for now there are no plans on selling it anytime soon. I still have lots of customizing left to do first!

I'm trying to keep my '03 Coop running, so I can not only keep it forever, but drive it that long as well.

125k on it with a few new parts, including an '06 MCS tranny after losing the Midlands at 115k.

Desmo - are those wheels, bumpers, and side skirts from a GP?

Whatever the case - you have a beautiful car! Got any more pics??

I owned my previous car for 21 years, and am hoping for something approaching that
with my MINI MC, which is now almost 6 years and 2 months old
(6 years 3 months if you go by the build date).

My '04 S (09/03 build) has 149K but I doubt I'll be able to afford to keep her much longer. I've had a substantial number of wear related repairs already. I've been looking for a spare s/c for several months now because I believe it is on borrowed time already. All that said, I still have a smile on my face every time I climb behind the wheel.

I was lucky enough to find a stray '05 MCS 48,000 miles. Carfax says it had been in two states without MINI care centers (thieving dealers to some). I believe I have given it the proper home where love is not in short supply. I love my first gen MINI and with good luck will keep it as long as petrol is available. I might add an electric MINI when they are readily available.

Planning to keep my '02 MSC, but all the talk on here about the supercharger and water pump, transmission problems have really frightened me.

Body Kit

MrCooperS - Its a Stock JCW GP Body Kit

AKIndiMini - Yes its all GP - wheels, body kit, drive train, suspension, spoiler, tailgate, brakes, etc. My 03 benefited from the untimely passing of my GP after my wife got into an accident. She came out of it pretty well but the GP took the bullet. Unfortunately the floor pan and the fire wall were twisted. But it did its job and protected my wife.
I benefited from the accident with an endless number of projects.
This is the only other picture I have, it's from a year ago before I changed over to the GP wheels.

Probably keep mine for a long while but for a couple of things - didn't get nav and wish I had and did get automatic tranny and wished I hadn't. Still, the only thing that's luring me away at this point would be if i found a sidewalk with those things so I guess I'd still have my first gen

PS: realized after I posted this was the coupe section - hope you don't mind the incursion

That is one of the most unique MINIs I've ever seen.

Confirmed '05 Forever

I was standing around on the car lot waiting for my Nissan PFinder to have a little something done and the salesman (seeming rather bored) grabbed the keys to the '07 JCW MCS and said let's go. Now don't get me wrong, it is a MINI, has the Turbo (Nice Borla exhaust too) but it just wasn't my '05. We snaked down a narrow mountain hilly road at 70... practically went airborne over a blind bump and he told me to drive it like I stole it...and I did. But even after all that I wanted to go back to the MINI I have come to love.

So...before you thrash or trash your 1st Gen make sure you drive the new ones...maybe you wish you kept it after all.

Work in progress

MrCooperS & AKindimini,

Thanks, It's kind of a work in progress. I still have a lot to do.
By the way, I think there might be some more pictures in my club newspaper this month if you interested. It usually comes out on the 1st or 2nd of the month. www.SCMM.org
To be honest most people don't notice its a little bit different, so thanks again for the compliments

Steven Tyler

To answer the question: until the wheels fall off. My MC has 76k on it, bone stock pepper white.
