I like the car ('06 MCSc). It's going out of warranty soon. How long I'm willing to hold on to it depends on how much $ it won't suck out of my pocket.

I just refinance my 06 MCSa currently at 52K. Plan to keep it for another 3-4 yrs. So far Nothing on the market can replace it not even the r56. Hopefully, nxt gen mini will look meaner than r56. if not I might try to do an engine swap with used stock r53 engine.

I'll keep my '06 MC convertible forever. It was handed down to me from my dad who bought it just before he died of cancer. He didn't have a classic mini when we lived in england but he apparently had a lambretta scooter and was a mod back in the day. My sister took care of the mini for a couple years (i say take care but she really just drove it, didn't maintain it too well). He loved this car; i'll keep it and always take care of it. It's pretty damn fun to drive too but doesn't handle the snow like my grand cherokee did

We hope to be able to sell a still operating CVT to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum at 200K miles. (we've reached 62K).

I bought my 05 MCS in december and don't plan to get rid of it!!! I'm driving it this winter because I don't have another car, but next winter it's going to be sleeping in the garage! It's the first car I actually really enjoy just driving around without a destination!

My dad bought Gidget ('03 MCS) for me to use as a daily car while he has his company van. And I have every intention of buying her from him when I go to or graduate from college. That is if I can convince him to give her up.

not involved with the Works Cooper S -- Committed!

so imagine that you had bacon and eggs for breakfast.

the chicken was involved...
the pig was committed.

I'm committed to the 1st gen Cooper S. I just haven't driven anything I like better. Not ever.

So at 130,350 miles, I put a Works crate motor and new blower in it.

Now I am on break-in for the second time, and looking forward to the next five years very, very much indeed.

Come on spring time, I cannot wait!

Bonkers in Boston,

Charlie

I recently have contemplated a replacement for my '04 MCS. It's got 72000 miles, some issues here and there, but man is it still just an awesome car to drive. I've looked at other cars like GTI's and WRX's, but nothing does it for me.

I've got a growing family, so I figured something bigger would be nice, but then my wife has a small SUV, so we're good there. So in a nutshell, I'm holding onto my R53 for longer, and maybe start modding it a bit, then maybe get a family car like a Subie Outback WHILE keeping my MINI.

I will probably have my '05 MCS forever. I keep adding new things to it which keeps it like a new car. In fact, when I bought the Mini, I kept my previous car (against my wife's wishes) an '88 BMW 735i 5 speed with 257K miles.

I just got mine a few weeks back. She has almost 87K on her, and since I did the seafoam treatment on her, she runs like a new car I swear...

I plan on owning her for a very long time. Even if she dies to the point she needs a new motor, I am going to keep her around for my first born son (he is 2 1/2) and if he's into cars like his old man we can rebuild it together... Honestly I see myself buying a newer one when I have the money to do so.

I drove into work today and I was actually bummed my commute (which can be almost an hour long) was over! Never in my 7 years of driving this particular commute have I EVER felt that way!

My R53 is fully paid off. With only 48K miles on the clock, this car has plenty of service life ahead of it.

Anyone else holding onto their 1st gen MINI for years and decades to come?
I love this car but I never say forever anymore. My Boxster, was keeping it forever. Gone. My Wife's GTO, was keeping it forever. Gone. My new F150, was keeping it forever. Gone. See the pattern? I figure if I don't say it, I will keep it.

I'm holding onto my '03 MC CVT, even though the CVT trannies are suspect. The car is the rarest of MINI colors, as is its interior, so I'll just drive it occasionally and take it to British Car Days. It saw its last MOTD in 2009, but won't be headed back.

My '06 MCSa is Royal Grey, with the anthracite and Park Lane interior, but it's my daily driver and track car. I dunno if it will last, but I'll sure try to keep it. Hmmmm, DARE I tell my wife to expect yet another MINI in the stable?

I'm keeping "Oliver" 05 MCS DSB forever. With 75,000 km on the odometer he is part of the family.
