I read some threads that people are having trouble finding a replacement key without the remote control. Global imports of Atlanta can do a general spare steel key for $29.06. You fax your registration and current driver's license and they have it made. You do have to pick it up personally. They won't mail the key due to security.

Like everyone else, I hate the big remote control key so I carry the plastic spare. They told me this will wear out quickly and stop working or break so I'm going to get mine replaced ASAP. Hope this helps.

 

Key less entry is like my cell phone, I don't think I could live without it.

Is this a key that looks like the remote key or is it a key that is flat?

I bought a standard non-remote for the MC I own key from a dealer and it cost $45.

 

I didn't think that would work as the MINI has a chip in the fob to help prevent theft?

 

I picked up my key the other day and it looks just like the remote key, but no remote. It does have the transponder and works great for $29. Oh well, I was hoping for a smaller key.
