Hey Miniacs:

As many of you know, I've been working diligently since last February to create The Wolfe Island Canada MINI Meet. If you're a regular or "old timer" on MCO you're probably tired of me mentioning it in my various posts!

The Meet grew from a thread on MCO. Archived here.

It is a grassroots initiative, created by an enthusiast (MINI evangelist?) and some terrific volunteers. And, IT'S NEXT WEEKEND!! Those of us who've been working on this thing can't believe that it's now only a week away.

On the Meet web site we've hosted a terrific discussion board, using very few topics. (Our free online board has wiorked well. We've recently hit enough posts that they've started to throw some ads at us!) All you need to know about creating a successful MEET of yor own, including a Track Experience Day is housed in those discussions. (Look for the "Rules & Safety Guideline" written by Jack in Lewiston, a terrific volunteer. Jack and Laurie are arrving in SMILEE!)

The agenda for our weekend event has proven very popular. Take a driveable, somewhat remote location, with paved roads and interesting scenery, make it accessible from cities with MINI dealers, plan some interesting social activities, and finalize with a friendly day at the track, and you can't go wrong! Our first day event even has a car ferry loaded end to end with our MINIs! Major photo op!

We're lucky with our location. The track is only a 50 minute drive from our hotel and Saturday/eve. activities.

Our initial target was 30 MINIs. We hit that with no problem. Our final goal is 50 MINIs and their occupants. We have 46 registered. Over the past few months we had 3 drop outs for various reasons. If they'd stuck we would've been close to the goal quite a while ago.

Publicity for the event has been online via MCO, MINI 2 and our
site.

A number of MINI dealers in Canada and the U.S. have told their enthusiast owners about our gathering. They also distributed a printed flyer for us.

However, for the most part, The Wolfe Island Canada MINI Meet was born, planned and launched on the web.

So there you have it. The "How-To MINI Meet Guide" is yours to fashion, based on our experience. Think about doing it. The Meet was fun to plan and organze, I made some great new friends within the MINI dealers and epecially here at MCO. And next weekend I'll have even more! And so will My Sharona!

Now it's up to you. You've got lots of time before your event happens next sring, summer or fall in order to pull it off...........!
