Need help: Noises-clutch/gas pedal...

I have a 2005 MCS with about 30,000 miles on it.....just recently I have noticed an odd feeling in the gas pedal. Sounds like a scratching noise, feels funny under the foot. I find that I mostly hear/feel it at lower speeds when I'm accelerating or decelerating. I thought this was really weird...but also, has been an odd noise when I get somewhere and park the car. While it is still running, it sounds almost like a knocking noise...but realized tonight that if you engage the clutch, the sound disappears, but if the clutch is not engaged, it makes this noise. Which makes me think that the noise is not coming from the engine...could the clutch noise and the gas pedal thing somehow be related? I never hear/feel the gas pedal thing while shifting, so maybe whatever is causing the knocking noise when the clutch is engaged is causing problems with the gas pedal?

I am not real saavy when it comes to all this mechanical stuff so I appreciate any help! We have a transmission place in town that I could take it to, the closest dealership is a trek...thanks for all the help in advance
