Oh and I've had my first model year PT for almost 5 years and it has NEVER been in for any service other than routine oil changes and the like. Can't say the same about my MINI which has only 550 miles on it and is ALREADY in the shop to deal with ABS issues, a computer chip glitch of some sort and to figure out why the windows seem to always be cracked about 1/2 an inch!!!!
I love my MINI and my PT but I don't feel the need to belittle VW Beetles or any other car for that matter, I guess I just don't get it.

is right.Because Civics are about all we'll be slaughtering from a light. Well, them and Echos!
chows4us [quote=minizeeg ...I have done it once, and while it was some of the most fun I have had in that car it was pretty dam dangerous and ended in two mini's with speeding tickets over 110 MPH and a bad rep with the local PD.[/quote]
Of course you didnt do this on a public road with speeds in excess of 100 mph because of this .... https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/guidelines
Of course not.
Having an S as a first car, I made some very bad decisions in my first year of driving. Thanks for giving me the heads up on the guidelines. I didn't know about them.

IMO, call it a cult thing. Call it part of the British motoring heritage with all the quirks along with German engineering. Call it youification.
It's uniqueness. Its fun. It gets in your blood. It becomes part of who you are.
how many other cars can you say that about? (OK, "Maybe" a Ferrari
)MINI owners have been known to go to great lengths like:
Getting up at 2 AM to go look out the window or in the garage at the car (have you done that with a Chrysler???)
I guess you could call it "love affair"

The session stops, everybodies got to spred the speedy dry and sweep a whole bunch instead of having fun motoring to the max. Nobody likes you much after that even if you do own a MINI.

(happened to an acquaintence of mine)And as for letting the spouses drive - that seems to be a common problem. I have some friends (a married couple) that keep one-upping each other. One buys a 2002 MC, so the other does too. Then one buys a 1978 Mini 1000, so the other buys a 2006 MC. Not to mention the flurry of scooters, hehe. All in one 2 car garage!

Ummmm im confused. The answer to your first question is any car. I have a friend who loves his BMW enough to stare at it at 2 AM in the morning. I have a buddy who has a modified civic that he feels is part of who he is. I know someone who has spent hundreds of hours working on a pt cruiser out of love...
To think that a MINI (and maybe a ferrari) is the only car you can have a "love affair" with is just goofy.
So i guess that mine would be....don't feel elite for driving a MINI. Just enjoy it for what it is..... a car you love.

Got one in the garage and it is a great car. My MCS and the PTC will (still awaiting deliver, despite my MCS at the dealer for a week) get along great. Each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

What I was trying to say is that there are all types of cars out there that people fall in love with and obsess over, some of which I'd never understand, but that doesn't make it any less thrilling for them when they get their new car!
So my don't is -Don't belittle the other drivers out there that don't have a MINI, it's not their fault they haven't evolved yet
