R50/53 What not to do to your NewMini
Don't close the door while holding just the glass.
Don't pull the cloth screen over the sunroof when open
.
Don't let passengers "play" with the buttons in the MINI.
Don't let MINI get dirty.

>>dgibbphoto,
>>Aloha and welcome to MCO,
>>
>>Things I would never never never do with my MINI- seriously!
>>
>>Let my MINI get dirty (body or wheels)- very bad on the paint/finish.
>>Take my MINI offroad- I have a lowered car and can't stand the site of speed bumps.
>>Park next to any car with big heavy doors that can hit my MINI.- I've had a bad experience with Camaros.
>>Park in places where people that might key my MINI would hang out- I'm always watching for trouble on 2 feet.
>>Park in places where birds will drop presents on my MINI- the bird poop will eat your paint in a jiffy
>>Park in places where sap from trees can fall onto my MINI- In Hawaii mango trees are notorius for this.
>>Drive my MINI in such a way as to offend another motorist- Gotta turn down my enthusiasm for my car on the road.
>>Scrape my alloy wheels on the curb- Ouch- this is easy to do if you are parking too close to the curb and are not wary
>>Take my MINI to an automatic carwash- I always hand wash. Daily! Can you believe it? I know nuts. But clean.
>>Believe everything you read on MCO about performance Mods and go out and get them all for your car- sure you can read about things and get a feel for it. Talk to some owners, see the MINIs in person and then you can go slowly and add things bit by bit. Don't get carried away by all the hype-think before you leap.
>>
That pretty much covered everything
But I'll add:
Don't speed through corners when the cops are behind you
Don't get caught with aftermarket parts that aren't "street legal"
Don't beat those ricers too bad, it makes them cry...

Do not use a lot of muscle to scrape the ice off the boot windshield this winter. That glass is SOFT. Mine is full of scratches from doing this.
Do have at least 28,000 miles on your MINI on it's first anniversary as I will have this coming Saturday!!

don't use the same mitt to wash the car body and the wheels. Use a separate mitt/rag to wash the wheels which have a lot of abrasive brake dust.
Don't wear a black bra. Wear a clear bra. MINIs have sweet lips and nice doe-eyes and you should flaunt their good looks.
No oversize (I mean humungous) exhaust pipe. That's only for rice racers with testosterone deficiencies.
Don't use Armorall (sorry Casey!) it does not have UV inhibitors. Besides, the slick look Armorall puts on tires makes the MINI look like a cheap rice racer. The MINI is in a different class.
No hanging pair of felt dices from your rerar view mirror. You don't want to look like you-know-what.
DO get a California water blade, California duster and microfiber cloth, and a nice nylon bristle wheel cleaner from WalMart.
DO get PS 21 wheel cleaner (do a search on the internet)
DO get a carwash detergent that is suitable for clear finish (Zymol, Turtlewax)

Don't get overly jealous of other MINI's you see, and of course, don't forget to honk or blink your lights when you see another MINI on the road. Don't listen to other's opinions about your car and/or your mods- make your MINI yours! Lastly, don't neglect your MINI's needs- it has to hit the curves frequently for optimum MINI mental health.

Do not allow your MINI to get filthy, it's an eyesore.
Do not make sharp/fast turns without using your turn signals (cops may be watching you).
Do not make modifications to your MINI w/out considering your warranty. Unless your dealership is mod friendly.
DO LOVE YOUR MINI TO THE FULLEST
DO MODIFY YOUR STEREO SYSTEM IF NEEDED
DO MOTOR EVERY CHANCE YOU GET
DO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR MINI!

i do second that suggestion...do not creep all the way forward into the parking stall, especially when there is a wheelstop or even a curb or sidewalk. almost certain to scrape your front end. and if you have your sounds on loud, you won't hear or notice it until you reverse off it.
related is go slow when turning into driveways. you may even have to go at an angle if you're lowered some.

WOW, good memory.
So here is another:
Do not let your 73 tii sit in the garage, under a car cover, undriven, for an entire year, after you get your MINI.
Fella's (of both genders), it is ME who is unworthy :???: I can not believe I haven't driven the tii since MINI!

If you are driving on the highway and come across another mini who likes motoring as much as you do, don't instantly turn into the chase scene from the italian job. And don't tell me that a lot of mini's won't do it because they will. Anyway this is an easy way to both get at ticket (or a few) and put mini's higher up on the cops list of cars to pull over. I have done it once, and while it was some of the most fun I have had in that car it was pretty dam dangerous and ended in two mini's with speeding tickets over 110 MPH and a bad rep with the local PD.

Of course you didnt do this on a public road with speeds in excess of 100 mph because of this .... https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/guidelines

On my way to Sacramento...
Today I learned to stay as far away as possible from big rigs. While I was changing a CD, out of nowhere a huge tire skin flew out from under the trailer onto the front of my car. I heard a loud smack and thumping sounds under my car. When I pulled over there was some small scratches on the lower part of the aero kit. It was minor, but why me????
