R50/53 Opinion on Dinan intake?
I like it, not as loud, I have it on my car, it's not loud so you can still be cruising and holding a conversation with someone, but when you get on it past 4.5k it'll be pretty loud. I like how it fits in with the entire engine bay as well.
Yep. Nice intake, more stock-looking than the multitude of sheet-metal intakes. More refined at cruising speed. Loud enough for my tastes at open throttle and high RPMs.
Only issue I had with mine was that my car is one that has lots of throttle whistle at slightly cracked throttle - whistles like a tea kettle. It's not an intake problem - it's the throttle plate itself - does it with any intake. I ultimately swapped my Dinan CAI for a JCW to mask more of the low RPM throttle noise. JCW or stock airbox are really the only solutions if your car does that, and you don't want to hear it all the time...

I put one on about 2 months ago. No whistle but will get loud when putting our foot into it. I only have 15% pulley and the intake. There is a long steep hill on my way to work, before the intake, but with the 15% pulley I would have to shift down a gear to keep from losing speed up the hill, trying to maintain 65mph, after installing the intake I can now accelerate up the hill in 6th gear to about 85mph by the time I get to the top. That's my experience with it. No change in mpg.
