Bay Area MINI Friendly Shops
Dunno if this is the right place nessicarily, but I am new to the bay area (from the midwest) and outside of the Mini Dealership and Dinan down in Mountainview I am unsure as of where to take hte cooper for various modifications prior to going on the MMMT. Any info with places would be appriciated, not to mention it'd be great to have a list going of bay area mini friendly shops as there seems to be a lot of coopers and a lot of shops! Looking to get the following done:
Polish and Powdercoat a set of rims
Short Shift install
Sand, smooth, prime and paint fender trim
Paint M7 ram air intake
Tint windows to high *legal* CA limit (I mainly use the coop for work during the week, yay .50 a mile!)
One ball the exhaust
Any and all inputs appriciated!

Depends on where in the bay area you are. Down here in Campbell there is a place I recently had a custom alignment done at called Renn Werks. Not sure about the tinting and wheel polishing, but they do engine and suspension work. They are big into racing and sponsor cars all over the u.s. Good bunch of guys too.

Basically, in CA you can tint your rear passenger side windows and rear window only if you have an outside rear view mirror on both the driver AND passenger sides. In that case, the tint can be as dark as you'd like. California law prohibits ANY tinting or material affixed to the driver or front passenger windows and windshield. The only exception is if you have a medically necessary reason, which must be cleared through the DMV.
With the new cell phone law coming into being, the cops might be noticing tint, as they look to see who's gabbing on a handset in traffic.

There are is only one shop I know of that should be able to handle all your needs. Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland ( 510-208-3273 ask for Jacques). They have done a lot of work for me as you can see in my sig. They are capable of doing all the things you need. They have done an excellent job on my car.
