You can dent a rim even with run-flats (trust me, I've done it). It seems to me that the stiff sidewall makes it more likely that you will dent a rim--if the tire will resist deforming on an irregularity in the road, then the full force of the irregularity will go...to the wheel.

Good luck on not dinging a rim, I barely grazed a curb the first week with the runflats and dented the rim, the rims are so soft there is even a tiny ding on each one where the tire machine must have started rolling along it. I find the non runflats (dunlop 9000s) have more of a rub shoulder to protect the rim. Honestly, I was not rolling in dough when I needed to change tyres but its worth having a credit card balance. Seriously, night and day. I was going to trade the car in on something else it was so bad. I am having a hell of a time selling the runflats however. I put them on ebay 3 times and got an offer of 120 pounds (250 dollars) for the set of four!!! each tyre (I live in the UK) sells for 115 pounds plus 17.5% tax. No one wants them. Peter

The rough ride is just something you learn to get used to. especially when you throw it in a turn at 50! and the tires don't screach!

my suspension is stiffer then stock, my rear wheel lifts about 3" when I go over the rain channel groove in front of my driveway!

But again, it is the old tradeoff.
Do you want performance? or do you want a marshmellow ride that does not handle.

do a few fast turns and you'll learn to love the ride.
