Which headlight covers are these?

i really like these. im either going to do the joey mod, or this. possibly both.

will these work with the headlight washers? it sort of looks like there is headlight washers in this pic.

how is the quality of these? what are they made of? etc..

thanks!!

HL Tint

How about a headlight tint, as I did? It's just some window tint, and I saw how much you love tint

Looks Like Lamin-X headlight protection film to me.

I have installed this product on a few of my vehicles. This appears to be Gunsmoke tint ( Darkest ). In my opinion, it's the best headlight protection film out there. Never any problems or issues.

I used the wet application methods and a hair dryer to stretch the film over curves, and requires some patience to apply. You can purchase this in bulk sheets or pre-cut for your vehicle application.

Eurothrasher, it's actually Oracal, but I'm sure it's similar, if not nearly identical; and it is the darkest.

I also used the wet application, and used a hair dryer to stretch. There's no way to apply them wet, seeing as the curves create a wrinkling problem.

Within only 20 min per headlight, I transformed the look of my MINI completely!

what percent window film is that, and what brand? you just heat shrunk it to the headlight? it sticks to the plastic?

pimped, it's 'Oracal' brand that Lyle at Vinyl Styles sold me. I believe it would convert to 5% window tint, but I know it's called "gunsmoke" -- the darkest on a window.

I easily took off the headlight rings, and gave myself some working space that way. I made the film a little bigger than the headlight and it tucked under the ring when I was done. The film sticks to the plastic once all the water is gone from underneath, after squeegeeing and heating.

I've never heard of Llumar, but if it's tint film, I'm sure it will do the job. Do you have halogens or projectors?

I did do it on the tails too:

The best closeup that I have is:

Llumar is a good quality window film, its what i use on my windows.

i could prally get my tint guy to do the heads and tails for like 20 bux total. he hooks me up real good.

i have the projectors. i have the older style, not the newer ones. i cant tell which ones you have lol.

will that matter though that i have projectors? will it melt the tint or anything?

no problems when washing the car? doesnt peel or anything?

last question lol, did you tuck the film behind on the tails too?

Then go ahead and use Llumar $20 is real good for an install -- I would have paid 20 to do it professionally

I have the halogens, but the reason I ask is because light projection on the halogens is significantly lower after the tint. Since you have projectors, you'll be fine. It will not melt remeber, I heated mine with a hairdryer, which gets hotter than the headlights

So far I have had these on for maybe 2 or 3 thousand miles, and up to 5 or 6 washes, and no problems with peeling. I have more film, so I can easily redo them if anything happens -- The only thing that has happened so far is a chip on one of them from a pebble, but it's really no biggie.

I did tuck the film on the tails too. I actually took them off and inside the house to do them! They are connected with one nut, some clips, and one wire. REAL easy to take off.

he tinted my hole car (and stripped the old tint too) for $100

i go there alot, as you can see

one of my tails is cracked, i have a new one in the house, i have yet to put it on. ive heard they're easy to remove. ill try this later today most likely.

i want to take the lense off though, and get rid of that chrome inside the tail light. i heard all it takes is some rubbing alcohol, and it wipes off. then tint (just dont want the chrome to show through at all)

i got to see about the 5% on the headlights though. even though i have the projectors, i still have 15% on my windshield, which already makes it darker, so 5% on the headlights on top of that..

i might just do the joey mod, and tint the back tails with 5%. how is the back tails light output after your tint?

did you tint the reverse light too? i cant tell.

i want to tint the reverse light and the 3rd brake light as well.

my other option would be VHT NiteShades. its a spray on transparent tint. 14 bux for a can. would do the tails, side markers, reverse light, etc.

i wouldnt use that on the heads though. it has a slight red tint to it when light shines through, and looks horrible on headlights.

found that out the hard way, when we tinted the heads on my friends escalade LOL. it worked great on his tail lights though.

Actually, I'm a chrome-hater as well (as you can tell), and my tails do not bother me any more -- I can't see the chrome through it. I also had a cracked tail (verrrrry small crack) that I can't see anymore. Not sure how easy/difficult it is to get inside the tail light housing. Good luck with your mod!

for the tail light dechrome: dremel a 1" crack into the sealant, wedge 2 screw drivers into the crack and slightly twist along the crack slowly. practice on your broken one first. the chrome is easily removed with a bit of alcohol. reseal with black rtv.

for the tinting, i dont recommend using window tint. it wont hold up to the chips from rocks and debris like the oracal or the lamnix.
