R50/53 Lock chirp
Lock chirp
Hi! My mom has a mini and has been asking me to make her horn beep or some sort of sound happen when she locks her car so that she can find it in the parking lots. I've looked all over, and I'm not finding anything on it. I searched here, but didn't find anything as well. any help would be very wonderful
thanks!
joel
p.s. it's a '05 Cooper S

If she has the factory anti-theft, Acknowledge-Disarm Acoustically and Acknowledge-Arm Acoustically are options that the dealer can program (not user programmable on the 1st gen cars).
By default the alarm will chirp if you use the remote to lock the car while the hood is open, in case you want to hear what it sounds like.

Dang, it just went off the warrenty in march. . . how much would it cost to do? Hey, I'm a computer programmer, can't I just hack it or something? Do you know if the '05s have USB connections? lol j/k, I'd love to be able to program it, but it's looking like a no then eh?
oh yeah, it's factory installed one.

Depending on the dealer, they may charge 0-1hour labor to do something you know takes them all of 5 minutes
On the bright side, it doesn't cost any more to have them customize ALL of the options that you may want to change.

Behind the right side kick panel there is a wire coming from the control module going to the right door lock mechanism. The wire is red I think. If you tie into that wire, you can connect (I suggest an isolating relay with its own separate power input) anything you want to be driven by the lock or unlock signal.
