R50/53 Is it me or are these seats incredibly uncomfortable?

Play with the combinations of your seat back, and height positions. I did that, and finally found the sweet spot in my 06 JCW.

You can always get different seats, like Recaro's or Spearco's.

That is the only thing I like about the 2nd Gen Mini.

I'm going to consider changing out the seats and I'll start doing research. Personally, I don't like to do modifications to a car that might significantly devalue the car. also, if i change out the seats and i am stuck with an airbag light i won't do that either and i will sell the car. i'm not so in love with the car that i wouldnt get rid of it...

I'm 6'3",200 lbs.I find that the worst part about the oem seats is the huge chasm between the lower back and the seat(i need a foam wedge!).Does anyone have or want the Sparco Torino seat?-thats the ones I lust for!

Oh - almost forgot - I put two washers under the front mounting points for the seat rails - raised the front of the seat about 1/4". The increased seat angle really made a difference for me.

For the safety folks: This still allows ample thread on the seat mounting bolts, so the sturdiness of the seat mounting isn't compromised. A thicker washer stack may not be advisable, your mileage may vary...

I find the lower back support lacking. I have a 2006 With the standard vinyl.
Nice looking but the bolsters are too wide for me and the back is well like i said lacking
I agree......too hard, no lumbar support, the side bolsters do nothing to hold you in even in a mild turn. Try it in the passenger side, always looking for something to hold on to

I have an 06, leather, non sport seats and they are comfy. I was actually actually looking at getting the sport seats, but when I test drove one I ended up thinking they were a tad uncomfy.

Just my two cents

dk,
the seats are not so great. It's more like you sit on them instead of in them. They work OK for me because I am not tall or heavy. I've had Recaro seats in my BMWs and Porsches, but found a lower cost work around for my MINI. I put Wet Okole seat covers in my MINI. The covers include foam in all the right places and give you something to sit in. Still not as good as Recaro seats, but OK for the price.

Funny, I was just telling my husband how comfortable my seats are. Mini must have really improved their seats in the newer models.

It was hard going from luxury to the flintstones seats, but made up for the discomfort with the fun! Hardly noticeable now.

Seat comfort is all about YOU. How big/small and where you are proportioned. Also if you are male or female.

Ahem, being a 6 ft tall 265lb male, I am simply a big guy. My structure is big and yeah I could lose about 35 lbs realistically.

I have no problem with the back or lumbar parts of the seats, I just don't like the lower bolsters that make me drive with my legs together all the time. Women of course would never give this a second thought. I also have a problem with many seats left side bolster that usually ends up digging into my left hip becoming awfully uncomfortable after 10- 15 minute drive.

coming from a 99 prelude, my 03 MCS is like a caddilac. the 'lude's seats were like sitting on granite.

i just recently took my car to MAG to have it serviced and they gave me an 07 for a loaner car, and i didn't like the lumbar in it either. my 03 doesn't have adjustable lumbar btw.
