Has there been any improvements or changes made to the windshields. I've read quite a few posts regarding the weak glass and repeated cracking. This seems like a big issue and it is kind of discouraging me from getting a MCS. Anybody know of any new developements? :???:

Nothing new, and frankly I doubt it will change too much. Your best bet is to make sure you have the zero deductible windshield coverage on your insurance. I'm with Amfam and they include it for free.

Is it possible that this is the price you pay for better optics?

haf

I don't know about any new developments but my May '03 built MCS (7000+ miles)hasn't had any windshield problems. No cracks and it's still as clear as when it was new. Well, except for all the road nastiness. I haven't had time to wash it in several weeks. Of course, now I probably just jinxed it.

I have a 05 build on my MCS and so far so good. The other day I caught a small stone that pretty much hit the wind screen right on but did not seem to hurt it as far as I can tell. It really hit hard, and I thought oh jeez...there goes the FIRST wind screen, but looks as if I caught a break! (no pun intended)

My car is an Oct. 02 build and I've been lucky to not have had any issues yet. Knock on wood...

August 2002 build '02 Cooper CVT with 11.9K miles. Still on the factory windshield, ZERO problems.

Why the windshield cracks on some cars and not others, is a mystery to me. We have the standard suspension and the 15" 8-spoke wheels and tires.
