Have a cow, man. Wish I had leather, I could use the lumbar support.

I use leather cleaner on the Leatherette, and it's a reasonable substitute.

Strange. I have not seen any wear issues with this stuff at all, even back to the 03s.

Last 4 Bimmers have had leatherette. No issues, oldest is 96 with 150k miles. Tried one with real leather, cracks in two years..
Wifes $55k new bimmer? Leatherette only.
New MCS on order? Leatherette only.
Like said earlier, most compliment on "beautiful leather seats" and I just say thank you.

I usually say, "no, it's not leather", but I should just say, "thank you."

Vinyl sounds cheap, but leatherette sounds like leather from a cow instead of a bull.

I remember that as well ... I think it was Naugahide ???

A buddy of mine and I bought a roll of it when we re-did the door panels on his '62 XKE. That was back in '75.

ahhh yes, naugyhyde.. actually thats VERy good vinyl.. top notch stuff.. I think thats what Mercedes used and its extremely well wearing and much softer than vinyl.

i do remember thought that there was a huge backlash against vinyl after awhile.. in the late 70's early '80s. IN the 1950-1960's era it was considered a luxury
