R50/53 Cylinder Mis-fires: dealer can't diagnose?
DSC light on and Engine Light
Thank you for sharing your stories. At 100,000 Kms my DSC came on and stayed on then the Engine light came on. The dealership said is was a misfire in Cylinder #4. So far I have replaced the block (mini paid 70% parts and 30% labour) and the misfire no longer exists, but the DSC light is still coming on and staying on. I am a lady and don't know much about any of this and don't want to throw more money away chasing this problem. I now feel perhaps a new block wasn't needed and the dealership was just taking advantage. Can anyone help me out. I feel defenseless...
It's hard to say. The DSC light could be unrelated to the block issue, it may be something wrong with the DSC system. There should be an error code you would have to pay someone to look into it, but it doesn't have to be the MINI dealer.
If the light never went off after the block replacement you should go back to the dealer and tell them that the repair is not complete. They need to fix what is still wrong or at least diagnose what the issue is.
