R50/53 Check Engine light
Check Engine light
This may have been covered before but I couldn't find the response I needed by using the search so I'll pose the question. I did some work on my 2003 MCS recently and accidentally crossed some wires which caused a check engine or "service engine soon" light. I have corrected the problem but the light persists. Is there a way to clear the code or get the light to go off without having to take the car to the dealer? Thank you in advance and I apologize if this has been discussed ad nauseum but I couldn't find what I was looking for.
Depending on where you are, many big box auto parts stores will plug in a code reader, pull the code(s), and clear the codes. For free. Or you can buy a reasonably adequate OBD reader for $40 or so and do it your self.

Thanks for the quick reply but the problem has taken care of itself. I took the car for a drive to make sure everything was ok and the light went off on its own so all appears to be well. Thanks again.
