I'm a Mini Cooper S dan and seriously considering buying a 2004. For those who are already owners, I have one question concerning wind noise. With the rather box-like shape of the Mini, is there a lot of wind noise? If so at what speeds does it occur? What part is the main culprit? Thanks for your help.

Welcome jsakura64....the wind noise is no worse than any other car IMHO, with the exception of the sunroof...the large size of the opening makes for a lot of noise at highway speed.

The wind noise in the Cooper is no worse and maybe better than any other car its size or price. This is a drivers car, not a luxury sedan. You feel the road and hear the wind, but the wind noise is very slight IMO.

No joke intended....more of a observation related to the issue of wind noise. I was wondering if the bodyshape of the Mini itself caused noise, or if it was the side mirrors, hood shapre etc. I have a car now that has terrible wind noise and do not want to make the same mistake.

Thanks

I'm giving you a hard time. I thought the mini was a pretty "round" shaped car. But to answer your question. Wind noise is very low. And with the windows that pop up a little when you close the door, it's amazingly low. BUT if you get the sunroof, you will be amazed how loud it can get on the highway. But I sill love my sun roof.
