im going to be getting a 2 way viper alarm soon for my Mini, and i wasent going to get the remote start, since its a manual, but i thought about it, and i was wondering if any other manual mini's are running remote start? regrets?

 

the reason you are not going to find any takers on this is because remote start poses a problems for Manual cars. you have to set a bypass to trick the computer to think the clutch is depressed during the start up. if you parked on a hill or have the good habit of leaving your car in gear when you park it and you hit the remote start, your car will launch forward or backward. it's a bad idea and most often you will be talked out of it by sales people and aftermarket car audio shops. so i doubt you will find many people who have this. i've seen it done and usually the buyer is very aware of the dangers but i've also seen a wrecked Saleen pull into the body shop when the wife hit the remote start for her husband.

 

i agree. most likely i will not do it. although i NEVER EVER leave my car in gear. my dad does, but i learned to drive stick on this car, i guess if i was older and drove stick before, it might be a habit to leave it in gear. guess im too young LOL

i prally will just get the 2 way pager alarm, with no remote start. i dont really need it, just thought about getting it to cool the car down before i get in, and to boot up my CarPC so its booted when i get in the car.

we have no hills in florida either hahaha

also, its my car, so im the only one with the remote/key at all times. but im not sure yet. we shall see!
