Got my yellow/black S "bout 6weeks ago, 3500+miles and "luvin" it. Took an 18+ hour bus ride from MIchigan to South Carolina to get it and it was worth every bump and lay-over. Drove back the long/slow way via Highlands North Carolina and my heart still pounds with the sheer joy of those back-mountain roads. BUT I'm having some trouble with staring the engine after sitting for a while. (probly the anti-siphon valve). Michigan is only scheduled to have the one dealer in Detroit (a 3 hour drive each way) and the miniusa site say it will be open sometime in September.

How can this dealer have a 4 star rating already? Are they doing service work already ? Any of you Michigan MINI owners needed a fix yet?

Hope someone can fill me in and get me to speed.

Hello fellow Michiganian

Just read the reviews and you will get the idea. They're just starting up and just taking orders. I have heard my friends mention seeing a MINI of your description around the northern Detroit suburbs. Could it be yours?

Any way mine should be available around October, when Michigan will really be motoring.

I was visiting by brother in GP Farms 'bout 3 week ago I guess anythings possible. On my motor back hame I picked up something in my passenger rear and tested out the run flats. At 70 mph when the light came on, it was incredulous to say the least. hardly effectyed the handling at all. The hole was bigg enough so that "fix a flat in a can" stuff couldn't work and I found a tire place at Wyane and Ecorse that would plug it. Learned how to reset the tire monitor and rode around on it sans problems for two weeeks, while the replace Dunlap Sport 9000 got shipped from Europe. Ouch!! Guess I'll just continue to wait till our home port (aka mini Dealer)opens and get in line (again) for a repair. Thanks for the support.

This is what has been dubed the Cold Start Problem... there's been a few discussions about this in different threads, but the quickie info is:
To overcome, turn the key to the 'On' position for a few seconds before you start it

It's a problem due to emissions regulations

There should be a fix that only involves a bit of reprogramming that should be out any time soon...
