This is just my take on this, but unless you live in an area with a high MINI population, your risk of theft is very small. I live in the "Hood" so much so that someone tried to peel the side off of my car trailer to steal my tools and compressor. If it's not nailed down it will get "borrowed" in our neighborhood. In a year of parking my MINI here it hasn't been touched.

Don't those locks get rusty and hard to get off when you really want them to?

Yea but Qk, if anyone does a little bit of research, they will find that the pattern is 4x100, which is a very common size, especially for Honda's.

well, cooncidentally, the wheels from the mini cooper fit perfectly the honda civic, this is a pretty widely known fact. considering honda civics rank amongst the top stolen cars, i think a set of wheel locks is cheap insurance.

i just ordered a set from tirerack, $29. thats worth it, just a littlle added security.

Had my dealer wheel locks from day one (Feb. '02) and no rust at all. And this on a car in western Washington state, Rain Capitol of the North American continent.
