Opinion question about painting...

to be clear, im not trying to make my vehicle look "super fast" or sport anything that i dont actually have. i am in the process of painting my intercooler cover. i think rough black plastic looked cheap. its a long process ( if done correctly ) and its almost done but not quite. i am going with imola red, and a nice clear coat. its high temp flexibel paint so no worries.
---> my question is what do ya guys think? is this tacky? also when i finish the red, i was thinking of airbrush stenciling in some designs like hot rod flames or something. stick with the design or no? opinions are appreciated and ideas are REALLY appreciated.

Well its hard to tell without seeing it but flames arnt really what Im into, I like the idea of airbrushing something on it though. But build your car for you, do what you want with it.

The red would be sweet but I would skip the flames. Leaves anything like that for the street rod/hot rod guys. Here's what a friend of mine did to his. Kind of the same idea and it looks nice, really sets off an otherwise ordinary appearing motor.

Not tacky at all! You gotta love painted intercooler covers.

The S is a red one from the boot, not yellow like it looks here.

What did you use to paint it? Is it powder coated?
