Winter Package

My windshield washer jets are freezing up. I have 2005 MC with the winter package. Any ideas? Thanks

What are you running for washer fluid? We have blue stuff here that goes down to -10f and some purple stuff that goes to -30f. Might just want to change to some better fluid.

Maybe I need to switch to the purple stuff. But I thought the winter package was suppose to heat the washer fluid?

It might heat it, but that seems overkill. It gets to -30f here and I've never had a car freeze up and none of mine have ever had heated jets. I don't have the winter package on my Mini, so I can't speak from experience.

I have the winter package, and don't have a problem with mine...but the coldest this year has only been like 10*. Make sure you are not using water, and the heat from the engine should warm the liquid anyway after the car warms up...if not, try some better fluid, and change it! Also, make sure the pin holes where the water comes out of are not occluded.

As polizei/Cody mentioned, make sure the jets aren't frozen. The fluid might be unfrozen in the tank, but by the time it gets through the hoses and to the exposed hood, it may freeze right there.

Use Rain-X winter washer fluid (its YELLOW). Works great...will even clear light layers of ice off the windshield without having to use the scraper! Don't know if they sell it in the US, but I assume they do.

Rain-x

Yup - RainX is available in the US, and its been great for me. Of course I don't even have my Mini yet, but the Miata has been served well by it...
