ryan i am very sorry to hear about your mini! its the worst feeling is when its your own fault.
the hardest thing after an accident is to get back behind the wheel.
i hope everything gets sorted soon so you can get back to motoring in your mini!

hey ryan...i, too, am just glad that you made it out without any serious damage yourself. that mini may have sacrificed itself to save you. glad that you at least did have insurance. i've heard horror stories of how guys total cars without having any insurance. i know you'll be back motoring in the near future. good luck.

>>It didn't cross my mind, because I do not fear death. If I am going to die, there was nothing I can do about it, so I focus my thoughts on the situation at hand. I was confident that I would just stop in the middle of the road and be on my way: shaken but not stirred.
>>
>>In many aspects I've been scared to get back behind the wheel. I have lost trust in myself as a driver, however I feel it's important to "jump back on the saddle", to understand that the error is better used as a "notch in my belt" versus emotional baggage.

Wow,would have scared the poop out of me,,cool, thanks,be careful

Tomorrow I call the insurance and get the car towed to the collision shop, so let the fun begin
My arm still hurts from the burn, even though it's starting to look better (Neosporin to the rescue!) It really sucks when I bump it or rub it on something, youch!
Everyone have a good night,
Ryan

Hey buddy... your signature says it all. Take your points, your punishment and then thank God you're alive! Live and learn and move forward!
Best of luck from the deserts of AZ!

Let's take up a collection.
To date,830 of us have read about Ryepile's misfortune. If we each kicked in just $5,Ryan would have over $4000.Ryan could kick in 20 cents a mile for his use.Add this to the insurance repair check, and the chassis wreck value, probably about $10000 and Ryepile would be there.Performance mods aren't insurable, unless you informed your carrier at time of installation, then your rates would go up.
Ryan's a great guy who has been quite active with the car,he deserves our help.

Ryan,
Man I'm so sorry to hear of your accident. (But you do have the CLEANEST damaged suspension I've ever seen). It all looks repairable, and as they say regarding loss, "Better the Garage than the House". Best be working on your insurance agent, we want that MINI done right. Hope that the repair goes smoothly and quickly, and that you're back on the road to enjoy the rest of the summer.

Bummer dude. I don't know whether the bigger bummer is that it happened, or that it's repairable. Those damages don't look anywhere near enough for a total, sorry to say. But we'll cross our fingers and toes all the same.

Mike, great suggestion! I think that's doable. Five dollars, that's one less trip to Sub Way for me, but what the heck!

Ryan,
I read about your accident yesterday morning, but I didn't even know what to say. I was just so struck by your candor and sympathetic words typed in here seemed like a pale way to let you know how badly I feel for you. So I thought about you all day while I was motoring yesterday and how it could have been ME, given that I've pushed my MINI harder than any other car I've driven.
What you've done for me is to give me a MAJOR wake-up call. I've gotten too cocky, taken turns too fast, and have generally been speeding at every chance I get. It has been fun, no doubt. But your accident really scared me into making a decision to drive more cautiously and slowly. I've only been worrying about getting tickets. Now I worry about more about being safe. You don't know how much your story has affected me, but your misfortune has turned into my teacher.
We have a great community here, but I don't want to meet my MCO friends at one of our member's funerals. Keep it safe, guys. The next one of us may not be so lucky.
Oh, and where do we send the five bucks?

First and foremost: I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt or worse. A MINI is replaceable for sure, but you aren't. Major props for your candor, your sharing of pics, and acceptance of the blame and consequences. By doing this, I can guarantee you made a few people think twice and very possibly saved someone else's butt in the process.
I hope that Mr. Motor can rise from his fate and proudly roam the streets again. If not, well, his replacement should be honored to have such a great man for an owner. Whichever way it must go, I hope it happens quickly and to your satisfaction.
Warm thoughts and well wishes to both of you,
Phil

Oh Ryan your news is absolutely heart breaking! How could this happen to our VMA, our king of the April club? I wish you the best in what happens now with Mr. Motor, and who knows, mybe you just might get to lead another month's "can't wait for club."
Good luck and keep on motoring!

Sorry to hear about your crash...
just a quick though..when i totalled my rover it was only 5months old. If the damage is more than a certain percentage (not sure how much, differs on each policy) then you qualitfy for new car replacement. Might be something for you to enquire about...hope it helps.
