My February 03 production MCS came with the ultrasonic sensor for the alarm already installed from the factory in the headliner. I bought the alarm to install myself and now I have an extra senor.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Mostly mine was software-related problems, though the biggest factory flub I found (so far) was this little ditty regarding large bolts that were never installed in the frame because the captive nuts had not been tapped:

No true mess-ups other than a few flubs from the clearcoat on the driver's side door.

My dealership did even worse.... delivered the car with a gouge out of the boot hatch. I didn't see it until I got home (bought car in NY, drove home to Mass). They denied that it was there when they inspected it. In a dark garage with its bum against a wall. *sigh*

I'm trying to convince myself that it makes my car look unique.

My only goof was the passenger door was off by about 1/8in. It sealed shut but did not look closed at all. It took me like 4 months to remember to bring it up to the dealer, and yes they fixed it by realigning the door properly.

(no pics, sorry)

I've been looking for that cubby-hole part too - but Classic Auto/BMW Parts now say it is no longer available; if any one has a spare they don't want, let me know ...
