Dude, you're my friend, and I hope you still will be after this post, but this has got to be the weirdest thing I've heard outta you in the past year and a half... no more strudel for you. I'm cuttin ya off.

Now, I thought gnatster was crazy for wanting to put TR7 vents on his bonnet, and that turned out fan-freakin-tastic. So I do miss a few now and then. But I feel secure in declaring this particular idea LOONY.

Then again, it's your car. And I won't have to look at it. At least not often. So.....

Funny this is brought up...

I came up with this awhile ago.
I owned a '57 210 4 door station wagon once, dog to drive. Got tired of people saying "nice Nomad" (top of the desireablity heap) when it was the just a wagon (bottom of the heap).

<<feeling around in my pockets>> Now where in the world did I leave that Puking Emoticon ??

Sorry, but that's awful. Just awful. Fins belong on fish, not a MINI.

Do you have drawings of the MINI Nomad from other angles? It's a goofy, but fun concept.

From earlier today. Here's that effort, can't say that I'm a fan, personally. Maybe with the Clubman you'd approach your Nomad...

OK, so I'm not alone in thinking about it. Yeah, go ahead -- keep sending the abuse. That's fine. I dared to ask. But, I'm not alone, which is all that matters.

89AKurt, love the sketch. Yeah, a Clubman might be the starting point, but with those vertical doors, a whole new back end would be needed -- and ugh, that'd be some work.

And Louispup, your photo even got a thumbs up from my son. Pretty cool.

sorry man, this concept is so wrong it defies description!

you would have to drastically alter the entire look of the Mini to the point that it would only look like a Mini on the inside. Even then, it would look like one of those Hot Wheels cars thought ought never be made in 1:1 scale.

RETRO!

The Corvette guys don't have a problem retroing a newer 'Vette into a 60s one.

So why not a MINI? Huh?????:impatient

Yeah but Vette guys are, well...

I think it may actually work on a Clubman bodyshell, there's more length to support such rediculousness... With some restyling (add some curve, increase taillight size just like Mini did on the MINI vs. Mini) it just might work.

Great drawing 89Akurt!

I'm not so good at perspective drawing of cars (houses are square and easy). If I remember, I'll thumbnail sketch something up and take a picture.

If the car was stretched like a limo, it would help. I'm sure there are some wrecked ones around.

Great drawing 89Akurt!
Thanks. I used to draw cars all the time.

I was looking for some photochops that I did of a MINI sporting the 60's style door vents above, it looked good.

As far as the fins go I think that if you like it, DO IT! I drew some pictures about 12 years ago of a 1957 Nomad with reverse fins and it looked KILLER! Perhaps the reverse fins could look cool, like off of a 1957 Caddy. They angle in and not out to a point.

I think you answered your question with your own picture:

^ That's why it shouldn't be done.

Being a Batman fan, I would say a MINI with fins, that was black would be hot, you just threw my imagination tach past redline. If you like it, its your car, do as you see fit to please you. It would be a one of a kind MINI. 89AKurt, your picture is freaking awesome. If I did fins, i would make my own. Guy witht he body shop across the street likes doing one of a kind designs.

Somebody do a Clubman!! I don't have Photochop or I'd attack it...

What would be even BETTER would be for someone to do, in the metal, a Clubman. That way when the Clubman owners think they've got the new, uniique car, you'd have done them one better.

Heck, there's a business idea in there. The clubman doors are removable, and a little fiberglassing...

Actually, a set of fins like the lower-line '57 Fords had would work better. They were just sort of tacked on to an otherwise rounded quarter panel.

Are you thinking of the '59? The '60 fins were toned down quite a bit from the '59's. Now, the '60 Plymouths had some giant fins...

Maybe some '60 Dodge style reverse fins...

Interesting concept for sure.... You know that you are supposed to eat the strudel, not sniff it.

Actually I think that if it is done right it could be pretty cool.
