Boot cover, how is it supposed to sit?

Well I'm new to Mini's and every time I close the boot the cover kinda bounces up, as if it's getting pinched.

What point is it supposed to sit on versus being squeezed by? I see the two pieces of rubber on the hatch but I'm not if the cover sits on top of these?

Those rubber pieces adjust how the boot sits. The hatch should be flush with the surrounding body work.

I'm sorry, I meant the boot shelf.

Every time I close the hatch the boot shelf hops around.

Oh, sorry. Boot shelf eh? I have no idea how that shelf is adjusted.

Just throw it out, you get more sound that way. Anyway, I lost mine in the garage somewhere.

There isn't any adjustment to the boot shelf. Check underneath towards the rear - there is a tab on each side that fits into a u-shaped notch on each side of the boot. The shelf pivots up and down from there when the hatch is opened and closed.

Try this

I had the same problem, the "bump" from the rear wiper motor would hit the shelf each time I closed the boot door. I took two small pieces of the "smooth" velcro and stuck them under where the rubber pieces on the shelf meet the plastic. This raised the shelf up just enough that it clears when the boot door closes.
