I am curious on the REME windshield BBQ at Windsor event. How did it turn out? I saw the pix posted on the windshield work, what about pix of the BBQ . Seriously, I want to know for those folks who got their windshield replaced, was the job done to your satisfaction? Like PPG glass fitment, new clips or molding replacement, etc.

Please let me know, as I might head there myself since I had to travel out of the country when the event was held.

Thanks everyone.

MiniKJ,

It was a great sucess. Good turnout. From all comments and posts on our BBS forum, the windshield installation went great. We all got PPG glass, new OEM clips.

Since we had such a large group and they also did detailing, some got delayed and a few complaints due to time issues, BUT all the members were happy with the windshields. I had a new windshield installed as well and am very happy. Most were happy and pleased with the detailing as well.

Although the pricing was a special offer for REME members and for that day, make sure to tell them you are with REME and were out of town, I am sure they will give you a good deal.

I work and live nearby, so if you decide to get yours done give me a call, email or PM and if I am in town we could grab lunch while you wait.

Thanks for the offer pooper. That's very nice of you. Do you see another event like this with the 1st class detail company again? I don't mean to jinx it for those who just got new windshield or have not had issue yet, but are there enough MINI owners for a one day event again?

Thanks again for the information.

Good luck.

I just called Barry at 1st Class Auto Glass to ask if they would be interested in doing this again. I know they had indicated they would. When he calls back with some dates, I'll post them here. You can call Barry McDonnell at 707-836-9770. He can answer your questions. We had about 20 last time and that was about the maximum you can handle in one day.

There are plenty of MINIs out there and plenty of rocks so I think this could end up being a recurring event.

Please stop by the REME photo album http://www.redwoodempiremini.com/mbb...sp?albumid=186 There are 56 photos from the last event. There are some good shots of their shop and some of windshields being replaced.

I had my windshield replaced at our Windshield Day, and I think they did a great job. The glass looks great, and all of the trim pieces are in place and look good. I've got a rubber piece under one side of the lower trim piece that needs to be replaced, but I don't think that was their doing but just a worn out rubber part.

Thanks for everyone's feedback and pooper's generosity for getting the whole thing setup. I will definitely be interested for the upcoming BBQ/Windshield party. I am also interested of joining the REME club. Let me visit your site and sign up.

I actually found this thread as I need to replace the front windshield on my 04 MC -- a ding just spread after N years into a 5" crack.

As we're in SF, I'd be interested if there was another Windshield Day in relatively short order, but I don't want to wait tooo long before getting it replaced...

best,
aaron

Break out the phone book

or yp.yahoo.com, and start calling around. Or call your dealer and see who they use (most dealers use a subcontractor). Ask if they will use new clips and you will find a good price out there. I got a PPG windshield a few years ago from some crew that drove out to my work, and it's been find. No problem with A pillar covers coming off or the like.

This isn't really something that needs tons of specialized work. Look for a good price and good luck!

Matt

I am working on seeing if we could set up another Windshield Replacement Day at 1st Class Auto Glass. They need to know how many would be participating. If you want to call them directly please do. 707-836-9770 ask for Barry. He may be out doing a windshield so he may need to call you back. I would think that if we got about 20 Minis we could work out a great deal. I'll keep you posted.

1st Class uses PPG Glass and OEM clips.

1st Class Auto Glass is expanding and opening another store in Santa Rosa. They would be happy to host a Saturday special if we can get a minimum of 10 MINIs. I think we should limit this to 15 as a maximum. Anyone interested can post here or send me an email: norm@redwoodempiremini.com. As soon as we know we have enough, we can set a date.

Barry said he will offer the same discounted special pricing as in January. You can call Barry at 707-836-9770.
