R50/53 The "Can't Wait For February" Club
I beat the system! I ordered the car (MC) in August 03. At the 6 mo. follow-up I was disappointed (but again) to find out the elusive production number might show up in March with an April build to be shipped in MAY! That did it, nine months for a Cooper? I called three other West coast dealers to find out a re-order would be 4-7 months out for delivery. This is a tired story they all sound like an automated recording.
I called MINI of the Hamptons NY and they had the exact car I ordered with a cold weather package as the only difference. It was IN STOCK! I explained I really didn't want the heated stuff and the MA threw it in at no charge!
They shipped it rail to WA state for $990 which basically was a $600 fee as the dealer I ordered from originally had a $400 flat rate mark-up. Is it worth six bones to get a car? Yes indeed 'cause it'll be here Febuary 9th. Yo Ho I'm in the Febuary club.
If you're on the West coast give it some thought and call Jerry at MINI of the Hamptons. He'll make it fast and easy. Or test your patience and save a couple bucks.

That's sweet. I also ordered from the Hamptons and now my mini is finally on the Carmen and headed over! I think checking the progress twice a day might be making the waiting worse but I can't seem to stop.
These are beautiful words! "At your MINI dealer." My car just arrived at the dealer today. I so happy just to know where it is. I'll get it somewhere between Feb 5th and Feb 13th. Add in a few days for a some *minor* audio changes and somewhere around Valentines Day it'll be all mine.
I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My Mini Cooper S is going to arrive between Feburary 20-27. It has been a long wait (8 months) and i just can't wait. I ordered a Pure Silver/Black MCS w/premium package, sport package, cold weather package, lapis blue/black leather, Harmon kardon sound, and black bonnet stripes.
lazykity,
My MCS is on the Jingu Maru, too. It is BRG/W. I am afraid that I have checked the status so often that the Department of Homeland Security will impound the Jingu Maru for the "Increased Traffic" concerning this ship!

Cool Solo2MINI! We're shipmates
Where did you order yours from? My baby still has to get on a truck to MD after it reaches NY. :???: I like the BRG/W combo. So you're the one to blame if I don't get my car next month!

lazykitty,
I ordered it from MINI of Pittsburgh on December 23. It was originally booked on the Carmen for 1/21. When I checked on Wednesday, it said it was on the Jingu Maru. My other two choices were IB/W or EB/W. Since my last 4 new vehicles have been various shades of blue, I thought I'd break out of the rut and try something different. My MINI might have to wait for me to get home from Rhode Island. I have to spend the next three weeks on the road for work. :???:

** Here are the two weather sites' maps. I found these link maps will update as the ships report to the weather sites' master maps! **
Have fun tracking your MINIs!
It really makes the time fly!

Anyone on the Galaxy Leader (c6s02)? I've been searching for the past week and can't find it on the Marine Oservavations maps. If anyone can find it then please let me know where it is! My MA says I should get my MINI around mid February.
 Mine should look pretty much like Mr. Bridger!

Way - you're going to love your car!
Mr Bridger has turned out to be the best car I've ever owned.
He hauls it down the road and he also gives joy to everyone who looks at him.
People wave or give the thumbs up all the time.
Rumor says "Red is Faster"
oh, and Mr Bridger rode the Jingu Maru (JPPT). And I found that I could never see it on the weather maps on the way over. I went blind checking the maps 2-3 times a day. Then the day after it left Charleston SC, I glanced at the maps and there it was - big as Dallas! and sure enough over the next week, I followed it all the way back to Southampton! I discussed this with other MINI owners and found that many ships will not send their signals while they are fully loaded with cargo for security reasons. They will openly send their signal to the weather trackers when they are empty.

Pebbles,
Thanks for the info! I was going nuts trying to find the Galaxy Leader - I guess I'll just need to be a bit more patient.
How have you liked CR? I've been going back and forth with colors (though I KNOW I want a white roof) - DS, EB, IB, Black. My wife hates the BRG/W, B/W (says it looks like a police car). Kinda like the B/W but keeping it looking good may be more than I'm used to. Same with the IB. The reason I mention this is because we did not get our cold weather package and our MA said that I could order another one this month. So that gives us a chance to change the color if needed. But another 2-3 months wait!

>>Does anyone know how long the vdc has been taking lately, whats the average wait time?
My MINI arrived at the VDC on Jan 24th. I picked it up at my dealer in Chicago on the 29th!!! Seems like it went through pretty quickly.

Looks like I'm in the February Club. My LY/W MCS was completed last Sunday and is booked on the Takasago to arrive in NY on 2/11. Should be motoring by the third week in February. Anyone else on the Takasago?
Just got a call from my MA - the cargoship (Galaxy Leader) should be at the West Coast port in a couple of days and that
my MINI should be a the dealership in two weeks! Just a little late for Valentine's Day but in time for my birthday! Yowza!
CR/W, White V-spokes, Athracite, Leatherete, HK, MFSW (2 spoke), OBC, front fogs, and enough extra
$$ for some mods or maybe JCW! A nice and lean set of options.
Now to start looking for financing!

Britney, Just left England today on the TAKASAGO due to be in New York on the 11th. My dealer is in Pennsylvania. Don't know how long the distribution center will keep her locked up. Any Ideas? Am I Club Feb or Mar.?
rivituso, I've got a LY/W MCS on the TAKASAGO too. I think we are definately in the February club. It shouldn't take more than 10 days to process through the VDC in NY and get to your dealer. I saw a post where a mini was discharged to the VDC and showed up at the dealer here in Chicago in less than 5 days, although I suspect that's a record. Pennsylvania should be quicker. I'm lucky, my MCS was one of the last built in January and flew right through the shipping process in England. I think there were only three days from the time it came off the assembly line till it was sailing the high seas. I guess I'll have to check to see if I can spot our ship on oceanweather.com. The call sign for the TAKASAGO is LACR5 BTW.
Netrual, any luck finding the Takasago? Visted my dealer last night, got bad news about the DTC seems weather (Snow) has slowed them down a bit, I am not sure if the dealer is just being causious. I must have one of the last mcs on the TAKASAGO my completion date was Feb 1. Tracking my mini is like being a crack addict.

My car is on the Takasago too, supposedly. Haven't been able to raise it on any of the tracking sites yet.
I did find a picture of the Takasago on the internet, though.
