What brand and model of an alarm will fit my pre-wired Cooper? I want to avoid dealer's installation because they want around $500 for a simple alarm. The way I understand it, all you have to do is plug in the alarm to an already existing wiring installation. Any ideas?

I can't really answer your question but was wondering which model year you (will) have b/c only the 03 models on will be pre-wired.

Produced on 6/18, got lucky and the car came pre-wired. According to other owners, I'm not the only one that got it pre-wired, even though they not supposed to come pre-wired until the 2003 production model.
