Sorry about your car.
I never drive into McDonalds though.
That is as dangerous as an 18 wheeler.

See, all you had to do was ask MCO. We're like a magic 8-ball, only smarter.

Sorry to hear about your incident! Good luck with speedy repairs!

AWWWW! I'm really sorry to hear about that.
Just having picked up my new MINI, the thought of
some jerk putting a scratch on her makes me nuts.
But I'm sure she'll get a dent or scratch at some
point, noo matter how careful I am...someone else
is bound to do something stupid.

At least its something repairable and you're OK.

ALRIGHT, i thought today was going bad, now it' sunk to a new low.... i just got back from the rental company... and they stuck me with a toyota corolla... what world shattering misdeed did i do to get karma like this??!?!?!?!

well, it is a 2002, pretty new, and runs nice... but i just drove the 10 miles back from the rental place, and my back is killing me, the seats are so messed up. and there's absolutely no leg room in the front seat... NO accelleration AT ALL. but i'll live, it's only going to be like a week or two, right????

oh god just make tomorrow better than today...

.... so do you have any strange chores to do? I wanted to pull a hedge up by the roots once, and a rental came in pretty handy ...

<<<Wow man that blows. We feel your pain!>>>

Here here! I'm so sorry, Banky... everything will be ok--and soon. And maybe think of the Corolla as kind of good Karma: once you have your MINI back you will appreciate it scads more. All thanks to the Corolla.

Your only recourse is to go through your insurance company for the repair, or maybe you could start complaining of whiplash, or maybe even mental suffering for having to look at your baby in a damaged state. I bet one of those lawyers you see on TV could dream something up, that is as long as the trucking company has deep pockets and the lawyer can get a hunk of the pie.

Show firm resolve to the insurance company. Get estimates from the best body shops you can find (for reference) look for every possible bit of damage. All damaged panels need to be removed and replaced- no body repairs.Check the wheels, did they get curb burn? Once you get the bids, go to your dealer and get the parts at twenty percent above cost. Use the extra parts money and whatever cushion you get from your high (est) estimate to buy upgrades (Aero, suspension, wheels, whatever), so that you can feel that your car got a little something for it's suffering. I feel your pain. You might be able to demand a rental allowance. If you can get away without the car, you can turn that money into parts too. Good luck, set specific goals in the repair, be patient and remember your goals...Don't let anyone make you so angry that you lose sight of them. Once again, sorry

I feel the pain . . .My similar experience: I was driving a brand new SLK 230 Kompressor. At a light. A huge semi, pulling a bob-cat on a flat bed is on my left. He decides to make a right against the light. Like. . . .slow motion. Literally rolls over my entire car. Top is down . . . I'm screaming. . . He doesn't hear me . .and doesn't speak English. I pull a "Jackie Kennedy" and jump from the driver's seat into the passenger seat, all the while hearing a crunching, crumbling sound. His tires were taller than my car's belt line. I jumped out of the car, fortunately. "Me no see you" were his words. Well, get better mirrors, get a passenger, whatever. My car was ruined. Moral of story . . .drive more defensively: Avoid being near SUV's, trucks, people on phones. Don't count on them seeing you. Separately, on foot, NEVER cross the street, even if you have the green if you see a driver trying to inch out and make a turn UNLESS: YOU MAKE DIRECT EYE CONTACT with the driver. My old running days. . . . I remember how many times I almost got run down. Peter

I'm very sorry to hear about your accident.
I agree, our minis are small and we need to be noticed and seen and maybe also heard (use you horn before you get hit- makes me want to add some super horns). An accident avoided is scary enough but much much better than having to sustain damage and then the repairs. It doesn't have to be your fault- it is the trauma and trouble having to deal with it all that is especially bad.
So when you drive keep some distance. Give yourself an out (escape plan B) use your horn and be aware of the surroundings. Drive defensively and safely.
I hope your mini gets back to top shape soon and thanks for sharing your tragedy.

Does the officer know the truck driver drove away after hitting you without stopping and than further proceeded to avoid you?

Sorry to hear about your accident...

About a month ago I was in the left turn lane and a Semi was in the left turn lane to the right of me and when the light turned green I went along minding my own buisness and the semi starts drifting into my lane and almost runs me into oncomming traffic so I had to downshift and pass him before I run head on into another car! I get next to the trucker and just glare at the idiot then he starts yelling at me like I did something wrong! What the trucker doesn't know is that my uncle is the their boss at the costco distribution center (the trucker was in a costco truck) and I could of got that guy fired!!! mu hahahaha
